Re: Motorcycle Thread
Well I will add/update on hubby's bike~
Those $500 dual carbs? are going as soon as he finds 4- 45 caliber shells to fix his original 4carb set. He wants the 60mpg back, this 30-40 crap is for the birds. He is only using about $15 less than if he were driving the dragon for a daily. :hmm: Somehow I knew this was coming~ |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
here's my current pile... 1981 GL1100 now with clubman bars, bar end mirrors, harley front fender, R6 LED tail/turn combo lights.
The front signals will be replaced, stock pipes shortened to the expansion chambers, lowered trees on the forks, some other bits will be detailed and if I can afford it, a fork brace. |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
I finally got my Harley running decent. The baffles I put in the pipes were giving it a really huge flat spot when you rolled on the throttle. It has an adjustable main jet that would not dial out the flat spot and I couldn't get the damn accelerator pump nozzle out to play with the size. Took the baffles out and it runs great. I also made some custom intake boots from some stiffer wall silicone turbo hose that finally cured my intake vacuum leak. I have about 25 minutes of seat time so far. I had to pull the mount for the master cylinder forward controls because it cracked again :yelling: It was cracked when I bought the bike so I pulled it off and welded the crack only to have it crack again next to my weld so now I will add some bracing and stiffen that thing up. I know....... I bought a Harley, used and built with various aftermarket parts........ But I will get it sorted out
Hey Matt........ Did you get that free Honda Shadow???????????? And is it done yet?????????? :funny: :funny: :funny: |

Nothing better than a 650lb cafe racer. I really like the look of some of the early Goldwings without all the plastic. I'm not sure how I'd like to ride one though. Paul |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Paul, this is my second one  they ride really well because the weight is all so low. i drive a nice twisty road through the hills on it and i feel more comfortable throwing it into the curves than i ever did on my radian 600 cafe bike.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Hey tequilla, When my '83 Sporty would break, and for the first several years it was pretty often, the guys at the Harley shop would say, "Well, It's a Harley, man."...sigh. She's now been sorted for years and is a lot of fun to ride.:love: Folks on their Evos and newer bikes look at her and sometimes ask dumb- ass questions, like, "Wow, that's an old bike, does it run?" No joke, a guy asked me that at the local gas station a few months back.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Been working too many hours so I don't have my bike back up running yet but I'm off work tomorrow so I can get my mount welded up and start painting it................ Even if my bike was ready I know I'm not ready for a long ride yet so I will be driving the G/F's car with luggage and booze up to Vegas Thursday for the bike event. My friend and some of his co-workers will be making the ride up............... Good Times

Re: Motorcycle Thread
OK....my daughter Maggie is interested in getting her cycle endorsement.....and building a bike.
So I have an old Honda Trail 90 that will fit her nicely and be a good commuter bike for back and forth to school. She likes the old school cafe racer look so this is what we came up with in Photoshop this afternoon... http://www.carartbyjohn.com/2011Misc...Cafe_Idea1.jpg Going to be a father/daughter winter project....:dancing: |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Here's my Honda 50 on a ride a couple weeks ago. It would be sweet to see a 'cafed' step through honda.

Maggie has been working on getting the frame, forks and other sheetmetal bits sanded and scuffed in preparation of paint. In the meantime she did a little Photoshop work to provide a better vision for the project....
We give you... GROND, the Honda Trail 90 Cafe Racer... http://www.carartbyjohn.com/2011Misc/Honda90Cafe_8.jpg :dancing: |
