It's been a number of years since I've been in there but I do drive by it once in a while and they still have a lot of old bikes sitting around. Might be a lot of junk now but they may have something that'll work for you. Worth a shot, anyway.

I found this bike cheap on eBay and decided to go for it. Its a blast to ride, I figure I shaved around 200lbs off the bike.

i'd love to do a cafe racer out of an old bmw /5. there's actually an old bmw at a shop here in town that has a vw engine on it!! that would be the perfect cafe racer, best of both worlds!

edit: actually, to the guy that was interested in my honda, i'd be interested in trading it for a bmw...

It was an '83 CBX550F and was a Europe and Canada model only. It was an inline 4 with quad carbs and mine had a 4-1 header. It just flat out screamed! It would easily keep up with the mid 90's ZX6 and 7 Kawi's and with the huge dual inboard vented brakes it could stop on a dime. I absolutely loved that bike but after throwing rods in 2 different motors I decided to give it up. Turns out there was a factory design flaw in the oiling system that would cause one rod bearing to run dry so almost all of these bikes threw a rod at some point. I found out after selling the bike that it is a simple fix and I wish I would have kept it. One day I'd like to get another one if I could ever find another one...

Here are the "before" pics of my next two bike projects - a 1966 Ducati 250 Monza and 1966 Ducati 160 Monza Jr. I was mainly interested in the 250 (yellow one) but the guy made me a package deal on both :

The squared off bodywork and high bars have to go. Plan for the 250 is an early '60s looking cafe style bike, all black with polished aluminum components. Plan for the 160 is still up in the air. I need to finish my current bike project (a '74 Ducati 750) before I start on the 250, but I seem to have already bought a couple of gas tanks and have my eye on a few other parts so I guess I'm already kind of working on both of them??? :wink:

The 750 HAS to get finished before I start pulling the singles apart though...

Man, were do you score all these rare hooptys? Can you post pics of the 74? Ducati has some cool new retro litre bikes. It looks alot like a trump thruxton but they actually make like 94 hp, andyou can get them with cafe fairings and all.

I've been playing around with Ducatis for about 15 years now, the old bikes I've bought are word of mouth deals from friends and people I've met at various Ducati events.

Here is the main page for my 1974 750 GT. Follow the links there to more pictures than you can possibly want to see. Nowhere near everything is posted though, I've taken literally hundreds while working on it. After almost three years, it's finally nearing completion. I recently finished painting it and am now timing the cams so I can put the engine back in the frame. I've posted pics of it here before, but at the risk of experiencing the off topic wrath of the rodders, I'll post few more. :grin:

The new Ducati Sport Classics are sweet. They had a couple at Mid Ohio last July and I really liked the "Sport" model. But I think if I bought another new Duc (not likely, unless I sell a few things) I'd go with the new 1000cc Monster S2R.

Naw, I think the springer rear end looks awesome. Especially if the springs were chromed! :thumbsup:

i do quite like the plunger- and it would be quite nice with our british roads!
but, i like the look of a really low hardtail myself, 2-3" over. if i do that ile mount the metal pan-seat ive got on a section of old leaf spring, as im not the kinda guy who like my ass pounding! :funny:

yeah ile be rebuilding it, and making a shitlod of cool bits, as well as making lots of cool bits fit. its a pretty good start tho!!
