Re: Motorcycle Thread
I wish I had gotten the 1100 in the first place, I grew out of the 650 after 4 months, but i have been able to mod it enough now to keep up and do what i want it to, so no worries anymore

Re: Motorcycle Thread
ooh ooh ooh! I can play! :hello:
He's my CB750 frame. NOS rigid frame made in the 70's by Tom McMullen's (Magazine publisher extraordinaire) "AEE" company. I scored it for FREE! http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a/ef980b4b.jpg The details about it...I was living above Evolution Tattoo in Santa Rosa at the time, I rented the upstairs of the building. I got together with those guys all the time and we'd all wrench on our projects. So one day I was coming home with a chopper magazine and Mike asks me "Hey, Cameron...Are you looking into building a chop" "Yeah, why?" "Well, I have a chopper frame if you're interested. I was gonna build one, but the Nova Gasser is taking up too much time and money" "What's it a frame for" "It's for some sort of Harley, but none of the Harley guys I've asked can tell me exactly which motor it takes" So I check out the frame. "Dude, That's no Harley frame...That's a Honda CB750 frame!" "Honda? No fk'n WAY man...That's for a CHOPPER!" "Yeah, a HONDA chopper...People used to chop Honda 750's all the time back in the day...They're making a comeback. I'll bet you a free sleeve!...If I am right, you design and tattoo a sleeve of my choice. If I am wrong, you can give me a whole sleeve of YOUR choice." "How about if you're right and it's for a fk'n HONDA you can have the frame if you want it?" So I pointed out the frame mounts in my Clymer manual for CB750's, then I showed him some ads for rigid frames, both big twin and sporty in The Horse. "Wow...You're right...I guess that IS a Honda frame! You want it?" "Hell yes I do!" Plans are simple and traditional. 16 on the back, 21 on a girder fork up front. Sporty tank. Trailer fender. Apes. Solo seat. Drag pipes. Paint will either be some bass boat flake monster or I'll do it red with black stripes like some of Eddie Van Halen's guitars. |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Here's my ride! a badass '64 Honda 50 :dancing:

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Well well well,,,, Hubby has finally done it~ he's joined the ranks of 2 wheelers. And I get my dragon back ! :dancing:
This is the same bike I chromed a few weeks ago.... Now he just has to build a dune buggy for it sometime next year! :funny: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a71...F/honda750.jpg |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
I say change the seat, put some dropped handlebars on it and get rid of the extras and make a Cafe racer out of it!!:dancing:
 Tim |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
gee tim, you and hubby must be related :funny:
since I won't be riding with him at all (personal thing) he's gonna change the seat and longer back handles. and is planning on changing fenders, with a frenched '57 chevytail lite in rear . but he says, no, no cafe racer, just more comfy for his long leggs to get that 40+mpg to and from work  |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
doing some mods to that 750 up there. have made a custom seat for it, tank will hae to stay as is, for now, and have switched out the dual pipes to a single 4 to one pipe from a 900. But I have a problem, I am also swithing the 900 handle bars to this . I have been searching for a color coded wiring diagram, , have one for the 750, need one for the 900 so I can match the wires and get this thing running.
Anybody by chance have one they can scan and send me or a site to get one. Thanks all~ |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
tried to scan this as big as I could....
not even a cb750 but its a diag. for a cb550(72-78)the controls looked the same on all of them that I ever saw hope it helps http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...iringd0001.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...iringd0001.jpg maybe Someone on your end can figger out how to enlarge the scan,me no sabee computer |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
you scanned it at too high of a resolution, so when photobucket resized it it it had to be super small to make the memory size right. best bet to keep clarity would be to e-mail it as an attachment.
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
thanks blacktruck~ but he needs one for a cb900 bike. the colors on the wires on the 900 handles don't match the 750. The 750 has about as much of a ratsnest in wire behind the headlight as an old bug does.
He's got the next two days off, so guess he can trace wire by wire and figure it out~ thanks for the scan though |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
well it came home looking all ordinary , it aint no more! no sun predicted for the next few days and with a charging problem it probably won't be rolling for a few more days, but I can't wait~ I gotta post it!

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Hey... I never put up an "after" photo of my 750... I suppose everyone here is sick of seeing it on this thread, but since my Ghia is out of sight, out of mind, bikes are all I"ve got... Anywhos, for the last time here, a "before" pic:
http://www.teamyikes.com/Resources/RoundcaseB4tn.jpeg And the more or less finished "after" pic: http://www.teamyikes.com/Resources/Ridetn.JPG Or click here for a larger view: http://www.teamyikes.com/Resources/Ride.jpg Now I'm painting the mighty 160 seen here earlier... though it's not going to look nearly as fancy as Carlene's tank! That's nice! |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Well, yesterday on my way home from work I saw all hopes of me getting a motorcycle laying in the middle of the road.
There were 2 cop cars, a fire truck, and a flat bed in the middle of the road. Right behind them was a motorcycle. It didn't really faze me much but when I got home, my wife told me she doesn't want me getting one. I asked hey why and she told me about the accedent. Apparantly it happened just before she got there and the guy was still under the bike shaking like he was going into convulsions. It really freaked her out. Welp, at least I can still look at them. Tim |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
I didn't really want to get rid of my bike, our son happened and I sold it.
Its all fun until your kid has to remember you |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
tim.....i've seen at least 2 accidents like that and it's one of the many reasons that i dont even sit on a bike (dont want to be tempted)

Re: Motorcycle Thread
But let's be real.... It will NEVER happen to me!
As it reads on the headstone.:hmm: It was kind of just a pipe dream anyways. The wife had already given me the ok a couple months ago to buy a used one in 2008 (gotta pay off some bills first). I was even talking to a friend of mine about helping him build one from a kit. I had one in college and it was a blast. That was down in Hammond, La. and there was no where near the traffic there is here in western Ma. Still would love to hit Rt.5 in Vermont with a few of my friends though. Oh well, I'll have to get back to building the volksrod. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise (for me, not the guy on the bike yesterday:sad: ) Tim |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
i'm working on this one. It's a '67 Yamaha YDS3. I cut and lowered the frame and the tank is from an early 70's Harley rapido (shitty moped) and the rear fender was made from a '34 spare tire cover. I'm still working on it.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
this is almost funny, look back a page, it's been one month since hubby brought home the cb750, and it got the once over, new tune up, and new color. Well, today, it 's gone! sold! had it parked for 8days at work with a for sale sign on it!
Not sue what he got from it, was asking $1800. lowest he'd go was $1500, either way~ $ from it goes into the bay, new t4 parts! :dancing: just thought I'd mention it~ |

Re: Motorcycle Thread
How about some trikes that are VW powered :dancing:
a turbo trike owned by my dads friend, it has a 1835 with a turbo as you can see, it also weighs 1045lbs an its basically a rat-trike.Hes been building them for 30 years. http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7...strike2ud2.jpg This is my dads, it has a 1600cc in it with a bus tranny. http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/4...oftrikenz1.jpg http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/6...ikepic4ht0.jpg Both trikes were hand made with fiberglass an bent pipes. The frames are angle iron. My dads isnt fast but 75hp in something that weighs 1600lbs with him on it isnt really slow. But my dads friends trike has a built up tranny an motor with a turbo, it is fast. He wont take it to the track because it would tach out before it would finish the 1/4 mile, but the 1/8 it would be quick I think. Were guessing it has some where round 200hp or more. |
Re: Motorcycle Thread

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Did anyone see biker buildoff last night with the "Experimental" bike? I thought it was too cool. I don't ride and being a physical therapist and seeing countless patients involved in accidents plus having a family, I would never ride one. However, I sure wouldn't mind building one. This one was based on a dirt bike. Sorry for the poor grammar but I just got through watching it on my Tivo and am excited.
Scott |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
I just finished watching it Scott. Both bikes were awesome!! But yes, I liked the "experi-mental" bike. Although I've always had a soft spot for Vincents. Here's one I was watching on ebay.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
I finally talked my dad into letting me post a pic of his trike that hes building. This kicks ass. Every part is hand made even the springer front end. The rear end is out of a s10 pickup it has been narrowed. It will be powered by a 850 suzuki shaft drive. Its has a air ride off a cadilac using an air bag from a semi truck cab. Like I said he made everything even the tank, handlebars the works. As he gets father along Ill post updated pics.
