I'd like more info on how the inserts on the tank are formed and set... And yes... The color is outstanding! Nice choice on the paint and stripes.

I have made some progress, it doesn't look like much but it's the fiddly small jobs that take the time. It now runs, but has a misfire. Wiring nearly sorted, just speedo, headlight and LED idiot lights to sort. Tank now fits and speedo mounted. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j6...ps7zhlmbe1.jpg http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j6...ps9vspcgma.jpg http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j6...pspcdbgp7o.jpg Thanks for checking in. |

Re: Motorcycle Thread
I can't remember if I posted pictures of my Sportster 48 on here or not. Just got done fixing a few bent things as I dumped it about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Could have been a lot worse for the bike and me but damn........ That SHIT HURTS!
|
One of my numerous projects is my 06 Super Glide. I got bored with it being all stock. Then my fork seals started leaking and the front tire wore out. Was a perfect excuse to Tear it apart. Just got my Twisted Choppers springer sorted out. Now I gotta get a bunch of little stuff done while I save up for the wheels and tires. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...91b2484fd5.jpg
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
The springer should take care of the pesky fork seal problem. Plus, it adds to the overall 'impression ratio' of the bike.:thumbsup: What kind of wheels are you going to run?
|
That's why I went to the springer. Simplicity + cool factor. This is really close to what I'm gonna get. hdwheels.com I'll be getting them in vivid black (gloss) with polished ss nippleshttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f25b1ad878.jpg

Too many projects at one time. But that's how I roll (or don't roll, as the case may be)
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
I don't think of them as "too many projects at one time." Rather, just enough to keep me active and busy in a fun way.

In my head, it's "I've always got something to do," but to my friends it's "what the hell is wrong with this idgit?"

Given your location, it should not be hard to find the right setting for a shoot. It has been quite some time since I was last over, but I seem to remember some great old industrial buildings near Crowley ?

Nice shot. For me there has always been a feeling of connection to the working mans history in old commercial settings. Also, your car appeals to me so much as it brings memories of the 60s/70s when I raced Alterds.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Went riding for a while yesterday and realized I haven't updated my bike status for quite some time! Time to take care of that.
Here is my current ride. A Suzuki C90t. Hard Krome exhaust, Programmer, Custom vinyl wrap (Pics of ocean white caps, and wash from Carnival cruise ship that my dad took) , add-on grips, mirrors, LED headlamp, gel seats, etc, etc… https://i.imgur.com/xQHFe5j.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bo4Byy0.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UVw8RRc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/m3D7x5R.jpg https://i.imgur.com/I70nqbL.jpg A video, you say?? Sure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygU4...ature=youtu.be :chillin: |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Good looking cruiser !
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
So what does it cost to wrap a bike? Looks cool.
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
There is a lot of price variation on it. I took this one apart myself and took the parts to a local multimedia company. The design was pictures that my dad took off the back of a cruise ship. They loaded them in the computer and printed them.
My dad bought the bike new. And we did a custom paint job on it at 1 year old. He grew tired of that in a couple years and then chose to wrap it. He had helped the multimedia company get their building set up and they did the wrap job for free as a "thank-you" to him. At the time they said just wrapping the tins we brought in to them would run about 600-800. Recently my old man decided his hips are getting too bad to ride and he was afraid he was going to drop it so he wanted me to sell it for him. I asked what he wanted for it, he told me, and I said "sold"! :funny: So I bought it to keep it in the family and sold my red bike since I don't need 2. So I now own it and keep it in his garage. So now, if he is feeling good and wants to go for a ride, he can still do so. (As long as I am not out on it.) |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Great plan sir ! Bet your dad appreciates it as well.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Nice. Love to see the bikes brought back to life.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
After converting the Wankel engine back to a single set of points. It came with dual point from the factory. Then cleaning wire connectors and coil, I’ve got a spark at the plug! More tinkering tomorrow on the carb, as the engine fired briefly on starter fluid. Woo hoo! Stay tuned.
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Next pic will be you pulling a wheelie in the driveway with it ? Smart move switching out the points. Those dual set ups are prone to break down.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Once again I’m having a problem with the side stand switch setup on my ‘82 Yamaha 650 Seca. Last year I swapped in another switch and clutch switch because the bike would die when I put it in gear. Since the bikes been running a sidecar for years the side stand never gets used. Anyway, things were going fine until a month ago when the problem returned. I’m looking to bypass the system. Any ideas, suggestions?
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
I bypassed the one on my old yamaha 650
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Sounds like ‘the plan.’
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Is there a fairly ‘easy way of doing this? I’m going over the wiring diagram and it’s pretty ‘interesting.’
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
Let’s hear it for Google! I entered the problem and it gave me three solutions complete with photos. Tomorrow I’ll try it out.
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread

Re: Motorcycle Thread
With a very simple ‘bypass of the clutch and side stand switches, the old Seca is running just fine. It’s funny that with the sidecar I never use the side stand, so maybe the clutch switch was the real problem. But it’s fun going out on the rig. At the hardware store in town a young couple wearing masks and keeping their distance were interested in a rig so they could take their small dog and three year old daughter for rides. They each have a bike and are thinking about a three wheel family ride.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
While she was shopping I spotted this gem wandering around the streets of Sydney a while back.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...72371208_c.jpg No front brakes, so air cleaner, no speedo and rigid rear end, way old school shovel. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bd91113b_c.jpg On first look I thought the rid around the tank was air brushed, closer inspection it’s raised and molded into the tank. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5ecec15f_c.jpg Nice alley trash! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d157975d_c.jpg |
Re: Motorcycle Thread
You mean Classic Alley Trash. You don’t see many old Shovelheads like this around. I love checking them out, thanks.
|
Re: Motorcycle Thread
A couple days ago I finally got around to going over the side stand switch wiring to finish up and discovered that one of the small ‘push connectors’ had moved back into the plug so contact was pretty sketchy. With it back in place, all is well.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
With the Seca running well, I’m doing a few mods I’d planned sometime back. The Euro and Canadian 650 Seca came with an oil cooler, but for some reason not the bikes sold in the U.S. With the extra weight of the Jawa sidecar and things heating up a bit I figured a cooler might be a good idea. A few years back I paid about 75 bucks for two worn out 650 Yamaha cruisers and a cardboard box of spares. One thing I discovered in the bottom of the box was an aftermarket cooler and an adapter to attach the lines behind the oil filter housing, pretty much like the factory setup. Today I made up a pair of lines and checked over the cooler. I’d planned on changing the oil, so this should go well and the rig will be ready for Summer.
