copper strip in ignition switch
I was replacing the electrical portion of my 70 vw beetle's ignition switch and in a shallow groove along the inside wall is a copper strip and a piece of cellophane looking stuff that may have covered it laying off to the side. What is it and what do I need to know about the placement of the copper and cellophane strip to make sure everything works as it should. Thanks in advance

Re: copper strip in ignition switch
Found out the copper strip is for the key left in the ignition buzzer that goes off when you open the door with the keys in the ignition. So you guys can rest now.

Re: copper strip in ignition switch
That's good to know. I recently decided to upgrade the '65 Corvair ignition switch in the single cab with a period correct VW switch. Though, now that I think about it, this likely does not apply to me as the doors don't have any switches for anything.
It's nice to have the info to pass on.
