Cool Cars I Saw Today.

Ok guys, post them when you see them!!

This is a taste of what I saw today at the Stafford Springs Swap Meet today. I had Dan crying when I told them they were for sale :funny: . Until I showed him the pics, he didn't believe me:hmm: .

The Henry J was a running driving car and the chassis and body looked awesome!!

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...015061053a.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...1015061054.jpg

The Anglia on the other hand was just the shell with a few parts. The guy wanted $2500 or trade for a 1940 ford pickup project.

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...1015061050.jpg

Then there was my favorite. All the parts were there to finish it. He didn't have a price on it but I'm sure it was big dollars.

nice pics tim... any squirrel tail sightings? :funny:

Jeem October 15th, 2006 01:38 PM

Re: Cool Cars I Saw Today.

Yeah, the Anglia would be cool on a VW chassis. Worked in 1/25th scale anyway.

Ford axle up front, big German engine under the English deck lid.

I deleted this post but I am adding it again. I was going to post it in a new thread but I didnt want to get my pee pee smacked  for starting a new thread of cool cars.

I saw this little local car show while out cruising around with my family and I just happened to have my camera. I instantly thought of Steve when I saw this merc.

Re: Cool Cars I Saw Today.

You know, those old Henry J / Allstate cars, were always a favortie of mine, stuck way the hell up in the air, with a CAE straight tube axle front, and some mean V-8 in them, with maybe a 20% engine setback..
but I have always also thought that a VW Fastback, with a little bit of metal work, could be made into a 3/4 size Henry J... look at the proportions of both, and any photoshoppers out there can probably see what I mean...

Re: Cool Cars I Saw Today.

Last time I visited North Dakota there were tons of friggin old frost bitten old cars out there. It reminded me of cars you see in the desert. Totally sun fried but not much more than surface rust. I saw a lot in this little town just north of the ND/SD border that must have had 500 cars stored and I doubt a one was newer than the 60's.

I thought it looked kind of "Gay Death Race 2000". What's with the things sticking out of the wheels? Nice work and all but out of proportion and it looks like nothing fits. The big channel cat nailed the look of the front.

It's built for land speed runs. I don't know if it's done any drag racing but its runs yesterday were in the 140-150 mph range, I believe. I don't know if they were all out or if those were shakedown runs.
At the ECTA Maxton meets, they are clocked after a one mile run.

I saw a stude like that chopped before. Rather than cutting the windscreen and rear curved glass, they recessed it across the bottom somehow. I sure as hell wouldn't want to have to figure out how to replace it. It looked like the car was built around it.

I saw this about an hour ago up in Northampton Ma. The guy built it himself and it has a '79 bus 2 liter engine in the back. Friggin cool as hell!!! If you noticed, he even made an area for his wheel chair. I was only able to talk to him for about 23 seconds before the light changed. Nice guy. I hope I run into him again.

I'm a sucker for commercial vehicles, and I would love to pick one up!

That is just too cool! We were thinking about doing that same thing with this one!:funny:

I think I loaded this picture right. Saw it at a garage sale. You can see part of a Tony Stewart shopping cart which was next to a wheel barrow.

I didn't see them live but, in the New Indiana jones. There are cars, busses, airplanes and bikes, that just make you smile. Then the movie turns to just OK. The movie is set in 1957.

It's all 78 jimmy drive train. He said the parts just bolted in on the 57 frame. He had to put u joints on the steering shaft. It's has a Goodwrench crate 350. The only problem He had was, it was built in His garage the truck was too tall to drive out. He had to take off the tires and pull it out with the floor jack.

C'mon Dan, post some pics of the split. It's pre-48, right?

I saw a Shelby GT-500 vert (or a copy?) this morning on my way to the college. It was Competition Blue with Wimbledon White stripes, white top (top was down), looked very nice going the opposite way. A while later I saw a sweet black Z06. I'm not the biggest Vette guy and a Z06 is not all that rare around here but it was still a frickin bad-ass car! A friend of a friend just bought a standard C6 vette last week. My friend said the salesman took him for a spin in a Z06 while his friend was doing the paperwork on the C6. he said the salesman punched it doing 50mph and it jumped to 120 so fast that the change flew out of his pants pocket! My friend isn't one to exagerate so that's pretty cool if true.

This was a couple of days ago in Virginia City, Nevada. It's an old historic town just outside of the capitol...no it's not Reno or Las Vegas, it's Carson City. Lots of junker cars on the way up (nowhere to pull over) but we saw this nice little single cab in town.

Hey, we've all got our priorities. When I go out of town I take pictures of nice cars...and all that other touristy shit.
