Flushed with good feelings...yeah, I get the pun, and no, there aren't any good feelings. Exhausted from living in the bathroom for days straight, taking new meds that make me swimmy and my mouth taste terrible, haven't shaved in a week. Yeah, I'm all Mr. Happy Pants over here....

Decided I needed a new bike. I saw the Honda Grom and was floored. Then I saw the Kawasaki Z125. Had to have one. So new, no used ones on Craigslist in the whole state (Florida). So I found a leftover '17 model and bought it Friday, using almost all my savings. I love it. And then I got fired on Tuesday. Meh.

Wow... That job thing seems to be pretty important usually... Hope this works out well and you're back at work quickly or even better... maybe you can start your own biz and do better than the place you worked was paying you, and love what you do. I hear customizers (automotive) are in slightly higher demand this year...

I bet that a ride on your new Zee-Bike puts a big smile on your face. I'd say that you bought the bike at just the right time.

One door closes, go kick another open.
Gotta sell my bike soon. Need some funds for my other project.

Losing your job does suck, we'll it would for me, kind of makes what I'm gonna say sucks seems like nothing

So Tuesday and last Tuesday really sucked here, the electric company shut our power off both of those days
I'll try to make this short (cough), back in August I mentioned about my wife getting taken from work to the ER by ambulance and spending the night, we'll it turns out she's been getting harassed by her managers over missing work to take me to my doctors appointments, she always brings notes even tho it's not required do to the FLMA, so they tried making it tougher for her and said these notes need to be worded a certain way, we'll she went thru the union rules and pointed out the she doesn't need to bring any notes from my doctor, so the day she went to the ER they retaliated over her pointing out the rules, her doc put her off work for 3 weeks because of the stress and anxiety she was suffering from at work
We pay for short term disability insurance for such things, her work refused to fill out the paper for the insurance, so we had no money to get us thru those few weeks until she went back to work on September 5th, even then we had to wait for a half a paycheck that they took double out of for our health insurance, we had it a bit rough few weeks financially, so I started calling everyplace we owed money to and make arrangements, we'll the electric company said I qualified for a 30 day extention if my doc filled out a paper, so I had them do it
So now it's Tuesday afternoon last week, Trina gets home from work, it's 89 degrees and humid as you could imagine, 5 minutes outside and your clothes could be wrung out from sweat, just as we sit down to relax and watch TV the power goes out, this is where it starts to piss me off about her work refusing to fill out her disability papers, I call the electric company and they say they didn't receive the paper from my doc, I call to make sure they filled it out and sent it back, I'm told it was, I call the power comany back to see what's going on, I find out my doctor's office can call them and get a 7 day extention until the billing department gets the paper my doc filled out and sent back, 45 minutes later the power comes back on, by this time our house is hot but everything is gonna be ok
This past Tuesday comes, I have a doctors appointment at 1 pm, at 10 am the power goes out, I call them, they still haven't gotten the paper my doc sent the week before, I call them and they assured me that they sent it, so I call the power Co back, his time they say the paper wasn't filled out completely, BTW it's another hot and humid day, it got up to 90 degrees that day, Trina gets home to a dark house that's hot asking what's up, I explain, we go see my doc, get the paper filled out, watch it being faxed, call them up to make sure they got it, we're told they can't do anything till tomorrow, that's when Trina starts asking for supervisors to get things done, eventually after 2 supervisors they promise us the power will be on within the hour, we get home about 40 minutes later it's on, but everything in our freezer is thawed out which sucks because we just filled it the Sunday before
Tomorrow at work she has a meeting with a mediator who comes in to work to get her papers filled out and to help with the harassment and retaliation from her managers, hafta see how that goes, just to get an insurance paper filled out, it's been a crazy few weeks
I fell in another rose bush

Ron

PS, the weather finally changed, 91 and humid yesterday, 72 today ahhh

I lost both of my teaching positions last year. That sucked. BUT I've gotten to spend a lot more time with my wife. Was still able to sell 2 cars and a bunch of parts. Looking to sell my other Manx and my cafe' racer next.

I'm bummed, and a bit nervous, cause I spent most all my savings on the bike. But it's such a fun little thing. I missed not riding.

Worst case, I have to start selling toys and pull out my 401k. I'd like to avoid that, but we do what we have to do.

This happened about a month ago, I always clean out the gutters on the house and garage around the beginning of November, so I get out the ladder and my oldest granddaughter and I climb up, I go to the west side of the garage were most of the leaves end up and I see a branch dangling from another tree, where the ends of the branches hit the roof there are leaves piled up about 16 inches, I clear as much as possible off before getting a saw to cut the 20 foot long branch that broke off of another tree, luckily another branch saved it from making a larger hole in the roof, we got the roof cleaned off, there is a hole about an inch in diameter in the roof, lucky for me that same weekend they declared a wind storm catastrophe in my area so the insurance will pay for it to be fixed, the bad part, I decided to replace the soffit on the same side myself, I got half of it finished before the cold weather came, but now I'm sick and this sucks, I haven't had a cold in over 20 years, I'd get a runny nose but it was gone the next morning when I woke up, same if I started coughing like I was getting a cold, the next morning it was always gone
Well I had to think about some medication changes made after I had my brain hemorrhage, the transplant team at University of Cincinnati questioned why I was taking a certain antibiotic that they take transplant patients off of after 3 months, I asked my transplant doc about it, he said if I want I can stop taking it, what a foolish thing to do, that kept me from getting colds for the last 18 years, after not having a cold in so long my chest, stomach, throat and nose are so dadgum soar from coughing, blowing and wiping my nose I could almost cry, I think I coughed up about 1/3 of a lung, it fucking hurts
The good news is I don't have pneumonia, This past Tuesday I was put back on the antibiotic I quit taking, that's after the first 10 days of regular antibiotics didn't do anything, he also put me on steroids, I like them until the 2nd day after they're gone because they take almost all the pain I have in my joints, then I'm froze up like a rusty old steel door hinge that's been sitting in a saltwater bath for a few years, but I'll survive
Hopefully by Monday or Tuesday I'll be back to normal and busy putting 16 feet of soffit back up, then I'll hafta get my son (the roofer) to get down here and replace the entire side on my garage, luckily there isn't anything under that section that can get ruined, but it still sucks because the trees next to the garage weren't leaning over it in 2001 when I built it, now they are much bigger and are gonna be a real PITA to cut down
Life is full of fun and excitement just when you think everything is getting better

I had gotten my annual flu shot at the VA and was pretty smug about a sneeze free winter when I got "The Cold" that has been going around. For about two weeks it was hack 'n cough city. It settled in my lungs, but like yours, didn't become pneumonia.

I think this falls under, "Life is what happens while you're making other plans."

I had pneumonia a few years back ended up with a collapsed lung. I woke up in the middle of the night gasping for air. I thought someone stabbed me. By someone I mean my wife, we were having a bit of a hard time. I ended up spending 10 days in the hospital with a tube gabbed in my lung via my rib cage. This was the worse experience of my life and I survived cancer and had spinal meningitis. Two good things came for my pneumonia, I quit smoking and my wife and I are closer than we ever have been.

I can say that pneumonia was the most debilitating thing in my life. I was pretty much useless for almost two months. At first I could hardly walk 10 feet to the bathroom without having to take a break.

On to my bad day:

One of my rabbits died. Thursday tuck in she was fine and fine Friday morning. I went out to do the tuck in on Friday night and she was dead. She was my sweetest rabbit. I am not sure what happened to her. She has a nice coat and was a nice weight. She was eating and drinking just fine.

Sorry to hear About your Bunny. All pets are loved and missed... I quit having pets due to the heart break of it many years ago... Lost too many, and my mental status goes really bad upon big losses like that... I go dark in so many ways, it's best I don't put myself and other through the darkness... it's ugly. Hope your world goes light quickly. Loss Sucks.

I was at Caterpillar just shy of 18 years, started as a welder, left as a manager when they closed the plant. I lost a lot because of that but life goes on. Took a new job immediately and it lasted 5 months. Life goes on. I took a couple months off and then took another job as a Production Manager. I had responsibility for 210k sq ft, aluminum foundry, machine shop, sheetmetal shop, powdercoat, weld, assembly, crating and shipping...around 100 employees under me. I went into work a couple weeks ago and got fired. Life goes on.

I have other issues going on that have really put a damper on things lately. Life goes on.

I am still very fortunate. I could sit here and dwell on the negatives (been doing that a lot lately) or I can focus on the positives. I'm trying to feed the good wolf right now. It could be much worse.

To all of you that are dealing with shit...one day at a time people, one day at a time. " This too shall pass"

Life goes on.

How long at the Aluminum Foundry place? Sounds like a lot of work either way. Tough for anyone to do that much management of that many types of workers. Machine shop alone is full of Arrogance usually (Not saying all, but my experience is there is arrogance and the extreme opposite in every machine shop I've been in... A little of both or it won't work... Don't know why, but I find it true.)

Sorry to hear you are jobless. I hate that part of changing jobs. But usually come out on top somehow shortly. Hopefully your change will be quick and awesome.

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune as well, sounds like you had a ton of responsibility in a shop that size with that much going on. I don't know how long you were running that place but it sounds like they had you spread pretty thin

Back when I worked at a machine shop, welding, sheetmetal, paint, and assembly there were only about 40 of us with 3 foreman, the 3 of them split up the assembly and shipping and receiving
You definitely had your hands full

I'll pray a door will open real soon for you. Stay positive and always, and I mean ALWAYS try to look on the bright side of every situation, life is precious, things can change at the blink of an eye

It's been a year and 3 weeks since my life almost took a drastic turn far worse than I could have ever imagined, and I've been thru a lot, but some how I'm still here and able to continue doing what I love to do

Before you know it your gonna be back at it

Ron

Well I did get some positive things done this week, but I had a set back yesterdy morning with my Volksrod, I've been driving my wife to and from work for the past 2 weeks because her car is unsafe, then yesterday morning I had trouble starting it, the night before it was parked in the open and it poured down raining, once it did start it was snapping and popping until it warmed up, I figured it was just moisture, I drove her to work and headed home, about half way home it started pouring, I had trouble seeing but continued driving, then I hit a deep section of water were it was running down a hill into the road I was on, that didn't do my Volksrod any good, it started snapping and popping again and did so the rest of the way home, I backed it into the driveway so the engine would be under the carport, needless to say it won't start now, I haven't looked at it because I'm worn out from moving the compressor, I'll rest up and see whats wrong with it this weekend, I hope it's just a damp distributor, I'll find out soon enough
