Chopped Squareback volksrod
Hello all,
Well were to start, I have a squareback that I owned over 15 years ago the car was never finished and changed hands several times over the last 12+ yrs. When my friend Type3Tom picked up his volksrod project I told him if we could find the square I would be all in this time! Tom hung up the phone and proceeded to make a few calls with in 10 minuets he was calling me back to let me know he found it and it was for sale. After I picked up the chopped panel I found a really clean one owner car on craigslist. So here is what I did today this thing will see the road soon!
Enjoy OB

Cool. Another Type 3 Volksrod in the works. Will be watching this one....
I have to say though...that is a really nice "parts" car. Kind of a shame to part that out, but believe me, the less rusty old crap you have to deal with the better.

The "parts car" is a pretty sweet daily driver thats never been molested and even has the crank back sunroof that still works like a champ, we were trying to find another car to use for the build but everything else was either too pricey or a pile of crap.

Love paneled Type3's. Chopped even better. I certainly would have had a hard time deciding which car to work on. Great looking cars.

You're stripping parts off a really nice stock Type 3 to build up a hot rod VW?. Well, you fit right in with the rest of us. I love the chop on your ride! In the tradition of some characters on this site, I have to ask, "Is it done yet?"

Re: Old school hotrod squareHello all, Well were to start, I have a sqareback that I
Ok so here is my update from the last week and about 4 hours today. We have about 30 minutes left on the wiring and body panels. I have a hotrod glass guy doing the front glass tomorrow. I should be a driver this Sunday! It will be the first time it has seen the road since the late 80's.

Ever consider shortening that cool little ride as well as the chop?

Pop in a built mill and give the new Mini Cooper a go around on it's own turf . . .

If you shorten the back, you have to shorten the front to make it look right. Nah...go with what ya got. It looks right on !
