Not done yet....but getting closer.

I have all of the medallions cast for the sold knobs...except #19. It seems to be cursed. Will have to recut that mold a 3rd time. Will be popping over to TechShop today to do that.

I also have all of them "aged".

Will be trimming, polishing, drilling and tapping the plastic knobs starting today. Will also be getting teh adhesive to bond them medallions in today too. Should be shipping soon. Thanks for the patience.

John, you do awesome work

I cast aluminum & have done a few brass castings, I have also cast iron once just to see if was able to achieve those kinds of temperatures, I just haven't cast anything useful out of iron yet, but I hope to change that in the future

Now I have a question, what process do you use to make the plastic for the shift knobs??

One day I'd like to expand my abilities when it comes to plastic molding, I have machines several plastic molds over the 20 years I worked in a machine shop, I still have the tapered end mills used to cut the plastic molds, so if you could point me to a website that explains how to do it, I'd greatly appreciate it

When I 1st started melting aluminum, I read a few things on the internet, then got out an old vacuum cleaner & made it a blower, poked a hole in the bottom of a large can for the blower, filled it with charcoal (the kind for grilling food) then added a bunch of Mt Dew cans & I was surprised as to how easy it was, then I built my own propane burner out of iron pipe fittings & switched to propane, then built a small forge & took up the art of a blacksmith

Then back in 2007 I tried to convert to a waste oil burner mixed with kerosene, I had troubles, but did get mt hands on an old home heating oil burner that works, I just need to make it fit the larger forge I built a few years back, I hope to get it up & running once I get all the fire hazards out of my garage/workshop, I have boxes of stuff from when my mom & grandma moved to their new houses they had built a half mile apart so my mom was closer to her mother in case of an emergency, all the boxes are piled up on my foundry & blacksmith side of the shop, well its getting cleaned out before September even if I hafta throw everything away, my grandma lived in her house from 1962 until 2007, she & my grandpa who passed away in 98 kept everything, as well as the original boxes everything came in, my mom just kept everything that was mine, I have slowly been going threw the boxes of my stuff tossing most of it out, so I hope to get everything going before winter sets in

Anything you can help me with when it comes to plastic would help me out, so if you can point me into the right direction I'd appreciate it

Thanks
Ron

Oops. I believe #19 is my possibly not so lucky number. If this is giving you grief, another number of your choosing would be fine with me, plus there will be a story behind it.

I am busy polishing the shift knobs. Each one is taking a bit longer than I anticipated to do. I start with 400 grit to get the parting line off and then go to 800, 1000, and 2000 grit. Then I finish it off with some polishing compound. I have about 15 to go. Then I need to trim, drill, and tap them all before gluing in the medallions.

Getting closer to shipping out the first ones. Should be this week.

Number still available are:

10-12,17,20,21,23-28,31-39,41-53,55-61,65,66,68,70-72,74-83,85-98

And maybe 16. It wasn't in my earlier list, but I also don't have it reserved in my order spreadsheet either. Might have just missed it last time.

Either way there are still plenty available.

I wish I could afford, I'd buy 8 more... It amazes me all the double digit ones are still available. 11, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88... If I were rich I'd buy every one of those numbers... Doubles are great numbers

When I can I would like 33. It was my high school Jersey number, my daughters middle school Bball jersey number. Trying to save up funds for a new house purchase. I wll sneak one of these in here very soon.

Oh, you haven't heard? Just send your shifter to him and he'll do a trial fit at no extra charge.

Okay, since you brought this up. Back in early '70 I'd driven with a buddy down in his Hot Rodded '65 Chevy to the Winter Nationals in SoCal. We were in the pits checking out Dick Landy's Dodge when Linda Vaugh , 'Miss Hurst Golden Shifter,' and another rather spectacular young woman walked by. Mr. Landy shook his head as they passed, and said, "that just proves it, nothing beats cubic inches".
