does anyone know if there is supposed to be a little play in the bar that goes across for the linkage.Where you can adjust it, where there are springs on the ends and the little ball goes into it? before i had my linkage off it had about an inch to a half an inch of play and im just making sure its supposed to be like that or not, anyone know?

If'n were talkin dual carbs (assuming so)
umm.. well there should not really be any 'play' in the linkage itself, you want absolutely for BOTH carbs to get the exact same amount of 'input' from the throttle as possible.. i.e. keep both halves of the engine balanced.
If your refering to play in the accel. cable itself, that can be adjusted at the central linkage point itself... loosen the set screw and either tighten or loosen the slack in the cable as needed... you MIGHT have the cable drawn up too tight where the carbs arent returning to idle position completely, giving you the higher idle speeds.
I dunno.. more input on what ya did when ya took em off till ya put em back on might help too.
good luck!:)

think I see a prob with the linkage on left side, its at a bit too much of an angle.. from the rear of the car it should appear vertical... see pic
[attachmentid=4683]
this can cause left n right carbs to act differently at the same amount of throttle.
I dunno if I am missing something else obvious from the pics :( sorry

Take the spring off and they'll be the same...or see what happens. Might be a return spring to help the linkage return from open throttle. If not, then it's nothing. Take it off. Might be a mounting for the linage awhile ago or some springs as it has nearly the same holes as where the springs and linkage are currently. It has no effect on the adjustment of your carbs or anything, so you won't fuck anything up trying to take it off. Just readjust the linkage afterwards. Troubleshoot it brah. Also...where is your tin??
