I brought home the race car with the help and assistance of the usual Baton Rouge Aircoolers (BRAC) suspects. Thanks and props go out to BigBug for rescuing my battery. EJ and son for providing much needed company and transportation. Thanks to Brian for the good deal on the car.

Now the work begins to get it ready for Novice School in March 2007.

Hung out at the 500 track all weekend. Got a few good interviews lined up, can you say AJ Foyt? Hung out with a buddy of mine that I was in the Army with. And discovered a secret VW to Indy link that I am working on bringing to light.

What a great wet (Its been raining for 5 days) weekend!

question, don't the pulleys need to be offset in order to run dual superchargers? or are you switching out one of the cones?

well spent to long fixing things at my cousins house saturday that I didnt get the coper Rhino I was carving for my mother done in time for our sunday brunch, for mothersday and my youngest's birthday! kind of a bummer that I couldnt give it to her yesterday! Mother in law toatled her car on her way to our house for supper, so we sat in trafic for an hour picking her up another hour waiting on AAA to pick up the car, waited at my fathers shop for an hour because the idiot tow truck driver got lost!! In the middle of this ordeal my youngest "Cody" was completely bummer that his grandmother wasn't coming but also that the cousin didnt show up, my brother that he absolutly adhores skiped town saturday night and didnt call him! his friends that were supposed to show up never did! When we got back home Cody was inbed asleep, had a couple presents he didnt open due to being so depressed?!!
So I woke him up we went to Wendys got dinner, picked up a movie and one of his school friends so he'd have some fun!! we had 1/2 a sheet of cake between the 6 of us so it wasnt to bad but for a 10 yr old it sucked! now my idiot brother just called and was to tired to comeover tonight.....wants to come over next weekend?? except we have to go to Las Vegas for my daughter school orientation at UNLV and theres no way in hell I can let my brother keep any of the kids for a full day let alone a couple hours!
Sorry just needed to vent! I friggen hate family!!

[attachmentid=10587][attachmentid=10586][attachmentid=10588] Worked on my headlamps for my project VW. Bought these off of E-Bay and they came with blue glass lens with 6 volt wiring. Had to re-wire for sealed 12 volt lamps. Think I'm going to leave the rust alone, kinda looks neat!
Anyone have a use for the blue glass lens?

It was actually over the weekend... so I guess I'm cheating...

Built a cover panel behind the seat for the Panty Buncher, to cover up the battery and gas tank area. Really cleaned it up I think. I welded the frame out of steel (painted to match the body) and skinned the panels with aluminum sheet to match the bed. I'm pretty happy with it.

Sneaked a shot of Heidi doing some grinding of her own. I welded up a little retirement gift for one of the guys she works with... she did the finish work.

Gotta love a girl that just throws on her man's quilted flannel on backwards to keep the sparks off of her skirt and blouse...

Nice slippers, honey.

Oh... and got THESE little pretties back from the powder coater...

There was a volounteer add in the paper to help clean up the old cemetary in town, which was really bad shape, head stones had been tipped over, some broken!, weeds to my knees! we had to shave off 8-10" of dirt to uncover some, and all the vetrans head stones on the private side had to be dug up and reseated!!
We found a couple from civil war even said Confederate States of America, lots of children from the 20's era.
Many people had asked and complained about the cemetary including myself but could never get anywhere, well for whatever reason the city got off their ass's and now we're doing things!! The gov't ran side for Vetrans is always clean and decent but the city owned side forwhich also had vetrans was where people had paid to rest family plots etc! this was a very sad yet eye opening experience! I pretty much spent today recouperating from the sunburn, back ache and all the weeds and dust killed my allergies but it was verymuch worth it, after about 5 hours we had more than half raked and leveled, most all the headstones washed and cleaned up a bit, and there was still alot to do! Some people showed up just to serve their comunity service hours, others to get their picture in the paper, but there was out of about 40 people an easy 15 that really cared and didnt have to be there! I had one guy that was driving by stop, asked what was up, and got in and woorked for about 2 hours in his nice shoes, slacks etc! had a few people drive by and hollar, honk their horns etc.
I plan on going back tomarrow and seeing what else I can do! Alot of work but it felt damned right!!!

These people should be shot!

You and the others should be commended on your work and dedication to improve the area.
I've done a lot of work for United Way and always look forward to their "Day of Caring" where we do a lot of work helping out schools get ready for the next school year, repainting retirement homes, etc... and we always get the caravan of "Suits" showing up for the photo oppertunities at the end. One guy and 4 other people showed up in a charter bus, got out, stood by our group for the photo, said thanks, got back in the bus and drove away. WTF??? If it wasn't for the people we were giving a helping hand to, I would have stopped doing it a long time ago. But being able to help people and receive their genuine grattitude and make new friends has a tendancy to eclipse the greedy actions of the shitheads in charge.

Sorry for the rant.

By the way, I went to a BBQ at my brother-in-laws house and ate WAY too much.

I had one of the longest, but best Bug-o-Rama's ever. Rob and I worked hard selling shirts, art and dvd's out of the Volksrods.com tent. We were a big hit to everyone there. I was suprised that only one person snubbed their nose at us all day long. Fun Fun Day!
