i was helping my buddy move and we were picking up some junk from his aunts house and i saw a bug in their yard and i asked abuot it. They said they got it new and was a 76. I thaugh by then they were all curved windshields and maybe even all verts, i looked at the vin and it was a 116 number so could it be an imported model or what? it was fuel injected, completly original and had a original interior that looked brand new. I might try and get it for a few hundred bucks

That sounds like a standard beetle to me, man. What made you think that it was a Super?

74-77 beetles had rounded triangular holes in the fenders for the shock absorber type bumper mounts. 75-up had a bigger rear apron because of emissions control junk or fuel injection or something. I think they may have had a single tailpipe then too?

I had a 75 fuel infected standard beetle back in '85. It had the shock bumper mounts (big holes). It was a good car until it caught on fire. (rotted fuel line) ...Tim
"I think they may have had a single tailpipe then too?" Yes, it had a newer style exaust with the single tailpipe.

I think member Stinkeye has a '76 standard that he recently bought. Search for some topics on that from him. He had pictures too, so you can compare what you are looking at with another '76.
