He's a member of ours and pops in once in awhile. Really knowledgable on chassis VW drag setups and the like I should pay a visit to his place sometime this summer, he's somewhat close to me.

sorry guy....i've seen shells and cars that were rotted in places that cars just dont rot. i'd have loved to get a hold of a split shell with that little rust. In new england, you can pretty much expect that heater channels are optional accessories to be added back in when you build the car, as well as rear package shelf, lower a pilars all inner quarters....etc etc

try Louisiana humidity! you can park your car for a few hours and when you go back out your calipers are already rusted!

In New England, that car (shell) qualifies as "an easy fix, repair panel are available everywhere" car. The driver's side door jam on my Ghia daily driver is rotted from the sill to half way up towards the top hinge. Duct tape and bondo keep the door from falling off at the hinge plate and THAT'S the good door. The passenger side is sealed shut since the rust ate the hinges off.

Registered, titled, and safety inspected (they lean in through the passenger window to affix the sticker) it's really pretty typical of around here. The only thing that's different, is that it's a '68 Ghia which makes people think that it ought to be restored.

Different world up here, farther North you go the more "different" it becomes, 'till you hit Canada, where all bets are off.

Still hoping for that bill board that reads "CANADA: America's Hat!"
