don't know too much about mexican production, the autostick was an option from 68 to 79, really late 68 i think, most of the ones I've seen have been 69's for some reason.

I don't know about super production.

I do know that the bus auto was also a true auto in the bay windows. and that autostick starters have alot more power than regular ones.

Good deal.

BEWARE!! There is a seal between the two halves of the transmission that is notorious for going out. The normal expectancy of this seal is 7 years or 70,000 miles. Yours is probably original. If this seal goes out and the two fluids mix, the tranny will be toast with almost no useable parts left. The kit is about $40 and it will take a couple of hours to do, but it would definately be better than being stranded on the side of the road and then trying to hunt down another tranny for one of these . It is possible to change this seal without completely removing the engine and tranny, but probably just as easy to take it all out. I changed all the seals in mine and it's really not that difficult.

There is a chance (although slim) the seal may never give out, but if it does, it will probably be at the least convenient time.

apparently the color is chrome yellow (or was) and the trim is a dealer option, not aftermarket... you could get the trim in either the woodgrain shown or it plus a lower section that is the same height... hmmmmm

I just printed up 25 pages of L-Jet troubleshooting guides to use along with my VW FI tester... Saturday, May 7th, I am meeting up with a buddy in Portland to go over the FI system and see if we can make the car a driver! If so, it will come back with me to Roseburg (200 miles away) under its own power.

Getting all my ducks in a row for the t4 acquisition... ordered a couple t4 FI parts to replace or back up parts that are the more 'common' cause of not running. have my ATF for getting the auto tranny at peek efficiency, tires are being aquired to have a safe drive home and i have some new brake fluid incase i need to bleed them too.

Saturday i make the 200 mile drive up to Portland to get to work and hopefully that night i will be driving it home!
