Welcome to the land of property taxes! Congrats dude. I'm still trying to convince Mrs. Punk to let me build a 4 car garage in the back. My 1 car garage just doesn't cut it.
Good luck with the homestead .......Tim

Great news Joe!

You going to build the house yourself, or are you getting a contractor?

that's awesome! i can't imagine what it would cost me to get 8 acres here. we're in the proccess of buying our first house right now and i can't wait for it to be over.

i'm really scared but i'm even more confused, so i end up doing nothing.

Check the laws in your state and county. In Texas you can homestead your house and so much land for cheaper property taxes and it protects you home from sesure except from back taxes, mortage and of course the IRS. You get cheaper property taxes from farm use too. It all helps.

Dare to color outside the line. Think out of the box. Be the box. 69 Fastback, 69 Chopped top Squareback, 87 Syncro Vanagon, and more useless projects in the yard to make any redneck jealous.

nothing better than having land
i got like 7.3 acres its alot of land
and to add to papa g's reply
in missouri you can get deisel fuel and gas delivered cheaper and use it as a tax wright off if you title your propety as a farm
and farm insurance is cheaper than standard home insurance too
and you can get free hunting permits to hunt on your land and you dont have to have the hunters saftey coarse
thats the way it is in missouri anyway
im ginna start gettin gas delivered as soon as i can get a tank to hold it

Me and the future Mrs. Roller close on a place may 16th.

Over an acre along the mississippi river with a nice garage and a shed to hide cars behind.

accepting donations of cars!

Actually I have already arranged to have a project and donor car delivered after closing.

I should tell all my firends that air tools are the perfect housewarming gift, but the War Dept would rather have towels and girlie stuff.
