QUOTE(Hotrodpez @ Apr 23 2006, 07:47 PM) Quoted post

Spent most of the day organizing the shop, as i reached that point where you cant find anything Discovered several useful odds and ends and many missing tools. Went to Home Depot and got about 20 feet long by 12 feet high of that metal industrial shelving so i have somewhere besides inside the cars and on work benches to put parts.

Spent the rest of the day setting parts on the engine and seeing what i got. I think i am complete there, just need to paint the alternator stand, valve covers, intake manifold, and gen backing plate.

Anybody got a PICT 34 carb they wanna sell me? Thats all i need.
need just the carb or intake and all got it all if ya want. you know where I'm at!

Finished the transplant on the bus. After getting it in I found that the generator that came with the engine was shot. So I threw in the old one and went for a drive. Now I'm just waiting for the front end from Fanklin's.

Hubby got the temp good on the greenie, moved it around to check out the front ,adjusted the brakes, they was WAAY out, ( no wonder I had no pedal). Then started looking for the cause of the shimmy. bad news, front beam bearings, gone, all tierods, balljoints, worn out. And he just told us friday he had a local shop look at everything a few months ago, please.... .....this is why we are getting more side work, garages around here, won't work on bugs...............but this may mean he'll have to use the front beam and most of the goodies off the chassis we were going to trade out,, bummer....

cleaned the garage like I have been all week, sorting all my hardware! Noticed that of the different manufactures of bolts for VW the KAMAX bolts seemed to hold up to the elements better than the others so far, yes I get that bad, it happens when your running a few thousand bolts across the wire wheel, I catch myself reading and studieng all of them . But on the bright side when I need something I'll not have to dig through all the 5 gallon buckes or coffee cans anymore! save me some time!!
Had to stop my cleaning to help the neighboor change his struts on his little Focus, just couldnt watch him hurting himself and his brother anymore, gave them a bunch of crap showed them how to get the struts out, then I changed them and made them put them back in! got 20.00, lunch and my yard mowed for it and they both learned something!!!
Made a deal with a friends little brother to mod out his civic motor change over , I show him what to do and just guide him through, with the use of my tools and space for 300. seemed fair... and set up a rewiring job on a 67 chevy truck for 600. in 2 weeks, nice how things come around when ya need them to!!

I throw a bicycle ride every year. Just a bunch of dudes riding from bar to bar. I draw a pic for t-shirts and we have a blast. Rode an old tandem last year and killed it. Went parts shopping and ended up buying a new cruiser bike too. Spent the afternoon peeling decals from it and pinstriping it. I'll post some pics.

Was going through my closet and found my magazine collection. It dates back to 1971. I found the sought after Inch Pincher Too and Tarbabe editions. I even have the old one with the Cape Codster on the cover. I decided since I'm pretty broke and do nothing with them it's time to sell them so I put them on the samba. I don't really know what they are worth but I just posted it so if anyone wants any of them or can give me a hint on the worth of them here's the link.

Yesterday I got Justin (vwcalbug) to help me pour three yards of concrete on my side yard! Today after work I am going to go buy a 6' x 8' storage shed to go on the side yard to store alot of my wood working tools and other stuff that does not get used a lot.

More stuff in the shed = more room to in the garage!

Yesterday I finished up on my Bus finally...put the rear bumper on. That's it!!

After doing all that work the past month, though. She runs great, has a bit (very) squishy brakes, but my new softlines are on their way.

Makes a bit of a "gear" noise when it is driving, but I don't care. As my friend said "dude, your car is 40 years old, be glad it's still running". So I am. And other than that she shifts and drives realllll smooth.

When I move out at the end of June, I will be putting the interior in it finally, and she will be ready for camping the whole summer. And Red Rocks concerts as well.

Well, we finished up my new 1955cc longblock. All that needed to be done was to flush the engine out with oil to make sure there weren't any "shavings" inside. Everything went well, and it's now ready to install in the turbo bug.
Also, my wife found a bird skull in the back yard so I coated it with Masterseries and painted it white and will add it to the collection going into "Skeletal Remains" .....Tim

Spent all weekend lowering the front of the bus. Now I know why I've bought fully assembled front ends in the past. Torsion leaves cut my hands to shit and didn't notice it was happening with all the grease. Had to use 2 jacks to get the new beam in place. Never want to do that alone again. Not to mention I got in trouble for doing it in the apartment complex garage and made a big ol grease mess that took forever to clean up as well.

Busy past few days...

Went to a friends place for the beginning of building 4 HAMBster rails.

The kids used Joseph's Model A as a cubby house...

And the engine of CBB Racing's Cranky One got an inspection and reassembly...
