Lora and I went to my folks house and sat in our bus (thanks Steve ) and pretended we could drive it. Then we went to Moni's and drank our faces off.

I seperated the 68 baja from the pan. The pan is for my 63 sunroof, the body is for scrap. Damn it was fun rolling that thing over.

I also did some work on spacers for the shitty chassis and the nice buggy body.

Did some parts hunting and accessing the 'work' for the 63

Man. I had a weird weekend. My friend's father-in-law recently passed away and he asked me if I would take my truck and trailer down to Willits California (just below Eureka) to help pick up some stuff. I was not prepared for the weekend.

After driving for a while, about 330 miles to Willits, we headed East about 12 miles, and then drove on a dirt road for about 3 more miles. We finally arrived at his father-in-laws house. This road was very narrow, and had lots of twists and turns. Barely wide enough for my 8 foot wide trailer. Once there, we met his two brother-in-laws.

My friend told me that he was going to get a Cadillac, and some other stuff that was in the shop.

Once there, we drank a few beers with the guys and crashed for the night. I had no idea where we were really, and didn't really know what the surroundings were like.

In the morning we woke up and at some breakfast that his sister-in-law made for us, and I finally got a chance to look around. The 3 story house which was about 6000sf sat within 600 acres of land. Along with a 3000sf "garage". This place was unbelievable. We proceeded to look around and my friend told me there were quite a few Cadillacs. Right next to the house, under a covered drive through, was a '67 convertible Cadillac. All complete, but with four bad tires and a top that was wasted. Over across the front yard was a '63 hardtop Cadillac, all complete, but missing one fender skirt, sitting under a tree. Also with four very flat and completely oblitterated tires.

This was my friends'. It wasn't in perfect shape, but was in very restorable condition, and complete.

Over on the back side of the house, down an embankment was a parts car. Another '63 convertible Cadillac. This one was partially under a tarp, and missing the left front fender.

Right next two this car was the "garage". The upper level was full of miscellaneous stuff. After walking around, to the lower level, sitting in one of the bays, was the final Cadillac, a '63 convertible. This was also a very complete car that had a toasted top, and four blown tires. His elder brother-in-law got this one.

Total count:

2 67 Convertible Cadillacs

1 63 Hardtop Cadillac

1 63 Convertible Cadillac

That's what I spent the weekend doing. Moving around Cadillacs. We ended up pulling the '63s out to an accessable area, and a flatbed tow truck came up and pulled them down to a storage area. The two '67s, both convertibles, are still up there, and they asked me if I wanted them...

No, unfortunately, I just couldn't drag them home. They will be taken by someone else.

There were also 5 or so other cars around the property. My friend also took a 1 ton International 4x4 fire truck.

Crazy weekend. Oh, did you know that a Cadillac will raise the front end of a tow truck 4 feet off the ground?

I spent the best part of yesterday surfing through the pages on this site & posting a few ideas trying to figure out how to attck my new/1st beetle. I think I'm finally getting there.

The rest of the day was spent getting abuse from the wife for being a lazy bum n sitting at the pc all day!

I had a bitchin Monday night!!!! I was the grand prize winner for our local radio station's giveaway. I won 2 free tickets($100ea) on the floor to the Audioslave concert...and got to go on their tourbus and meet the band beforehand and listen to their ENTIRE new cd, that hasn't even come out yet. There's just something about getting drunk like a rockstar on a rockstar's bus listening to loud rock that just really gets my blood pumping.

Ok, I'm done bragging now!

I talked the wife into finally helping me get my new motor out of the back of her minivan. Guess the smell of oil, grease, and ATF finally got to her. :)

Well today I had to bleed the brakes on the Ghia. I did a valve adjustment on my Ducati (not as easy as a VW) and washed the car so it looks all perdy now.
