Re: Motorcycle Thread
It's running pretty decent right now. Turns out the baffles I put in were screwing with it so I tossed them I need to go out and check but I think it's got a Zenith carb on it. Now I just need to get my forward control mount for the shifter back from the guy at work who's welding it up for me.............

Re: Motorcycle Thread
I run a 38mm Keihin (pre CV) with an accelerator pump on my '83 Iron head. I dialed it in with the cams I'm running (Andrews PB+) and the home-built copy of a Siamese style pipes run on a XLCR, with a pair of SuperTrapp. The bike has run really well like this for the last fifteen years. If you go with a CV, the ones sporting an accelerator pump seem to be the hot ticket.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
2006 began, knowing a new 1/8 mile dragstrip was being prepared nearby. Dave wanted something to take and race, but not wanting to trailer a car around, decided on a drag bike, he could carry in his pickup. Wanting something different, he built the frame and installed a VW air cooled engine. The bike, called "VW Rod", had a problem. Transmitting power to the rear wheel was difficult. Clutch and shift controls would be cumbersome and not recommended on drag bikes. He took an IRS VW transaxle, flipped it over to change rotation, removed all the extra gears, locked it in high gear, welded up the spider gears and decided on a glide clutch to transmit power. He could find no one to build a clutch, so he built his own slipping clutch. It was centrifugal in design and can be adjusted at the races. The rider does nothing but steer. Legendary VW drag racer Bob Hoffeld built a motor, a small 1776 cc, Weber carbs, and Dave's own headers complete the package. It took about a year to dial in the clutch, but the bike now runs around 100 mph in under 8 seconds. It now needs a bigger motor.

Re: Motorcycle Thread

Newest addition to the herd. '03 vulcan. couple of scratches, but really nice. Now he can fix scrappy when he gets parts and has time. Dragon can rest again~
Oh, price, $1500.
12,300 miles, Vance & Hines exhaust, expensive cushy grips with wrist throttle.

Somewhere around there. I just fill it up every so often so the gas doesn't get to stale.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Got my modified rack on the back of the KZ400 this weekend.
Started with this....
Bad chrome, too wide, and no place for the rear blinkers.
After narrowing it up, welding some tabs for the blinkers to mount, and otherwise getting it to fit right, I took it over to TechShop and sandblasted it and powdercoated it gloss black.
Should make carrying small stuff, like my backpack for work and such, much easier.
