Re: Motorcycle Thread
Hey Fungus, nice work on the bike. The center mounted air cleaner is brilliant, and looks great too. Rear 'hump is also, of course, very trick looking.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
TP. I checked out your build thread. I like the rear sets, and their rubber mounting should work nicely. The drilled look of the front discs and rear drum on the one bike looks sweet, the holes make things lighter and add to the over al 'impression ratio.'

Saw the Hogslayer trailer on the JJ. Any clue when the video is coming out? I gotta see it!

Heet, gas-line antifreeze & water remover, in the Yellow bottle has Methyl Alcohol in it and should work for cleaning cables to solder them once shortened.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Fungus, great job on your air cleaner mount. I really like the use of the large cone filter. Also, your tail section is looking really cool. Just an idea for anybody that might be thinking about making a similar tail section, I've got a buddy that's building a Honda 400 cafe racer type of bike and he is using a Sportster tank that he cut up for his tail section something like this:
Doc
ETA: Here is the bike with the Sportster tank to tail section modification.

I never liked Sporties any way. I'll have to look into finding one to use.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Not sure if I mentioned it before but my lovely lady took a week long riding course last week and now has her intermediate license. She is still restricted to daylight hours and no passengers until she takes her road test and they recommend at least 40 hours of ride time before the test so she needed something other than her Vespa to ride. Went and checked out a 1991 Suzuki Bandit 400 last night and we are going back to pick it up tonight.
It only has 18,000 kms on the clock and is in pretty good shape. The front brake isn't working so that will get dealt with when we get it home tonight. It seems to me the piston is seized in the caliper but the fluid is old and very muddy so hopefully a quick flush and some compressed air and new fluid will free it up. She's pretty about it and has already asked me to flat black the tank and plastics and pinstripe it red and white to go with the red frame.

Whoa, "flat black the tank and plastics," etc! You, my lucky friend, have one classy lady. Keep the rubber side down and the flat black 'n stripped side up.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
My home town volunteer fire department has built a bike for the past 3 years as a fund raiser. This year they asked me to layout some flames. After they paint the flames I will stripe it too...

Re: Motorcycle Thread
That makes me wonder: If it has two wheels, it's a motorcycles. If it has four wheels, it's a car (or truck or pick-up, etc.)
So, is that still a motorcycle? And does it require a motorcycle qualification on your license?

Re: Motorcycle Thread
I'll bet that handles even better than it looks!
Just saw the Cafe Racer show on HD TV. It will be a cool series. Can't see my Vstar as a cafe, but my sons 750 Maxim has some possiblities, although I was thinking bobber.

In TN at least, it's a motorcycle as long as it's 3 wheels or less. I'm really not sure how they would classify that... maybe as a trailer? Nonetheless, that's scary as shit
