I was told I needed to put a little bit of my bike's story up on here by one of the other members. So I'm cutting and pasting a few pics from a build thread in another forum. and I'll link the thread here so that if anyone wants to see the actual build they can, without cluttering this forum up too much.

That is one really slick fender! At speed, it relieves pressure and lift at the front end. That way when you're bopping along at a buck forty and change you won't have to lean over the bars to keep the front end down.

We featured a few home-built bikes by 69-year old Bob Decker a few years ago that were built to look like a Simplex and an Indian Chief yet used a conventional V-twin lawn mower engine with a centrifugal clutch. Now 72-year old Bob Decker offers his latest creation from scratch, another throwback nostalgia bike built around a 35hp vanguard V-twin sans front fender and other amenities. Bob does most of the fab work in his own garage and as you can see is never fully satisfied with his new creation, leading him onto his next bigger and better one. Bob sent me chassis dyno results for this little putt-putt and he had it up to 106 mph on the dyno printout. Keep them coming Bob. We are definitely going to get to his fab shop to do a feature story for an upcoming issue.

Hell no I won't be going anywhere near the top speed (~120mph) 80's probably the fastest she'll ever hit while she's mine.

The stock center mount shock is an pneumatic piece of garbage, rides super soft, and then when you up the pressure it rides ok till the air heats up and then it rides like shit again. So I replaced it with the one thats on there now, which is a nitrogen charged, fully adjustable rear shock off of a 1999 Triumph Daytona 999 (or some number like that, with lots of 9s in it), which is actually within 5lbs of the Virago's stock weight. Sooooo much better now.

Looking at those Yoko' pics got me thinking about the Speedway bikes. I think a heavier frame and springer fork mixed in with some vintage and new speedway parts could make for very nice retro custom without getting too crazy expensive. the dirt covers also open alot of possibilities for leather fans. With the very obvious bicycle heritage, it would probably adopt some steampunk looks pretty well too.

Sorry, no pics, but I thought you guys could relate to this.

Rode the motorcycle for the first time on a road today. 80+ miles in 40* weather, through gravel and cross-winds. Rode back home in the dark. But I had the time of my life.

Still need to tune the carbs, hopefully I'll get to that this week.
