Circlips have a constant love/hate relationship stigma. They work great, but LOVE to go flying and land in some small corner in a shop, or somewhere that no one will ever think to look.
That was the case on re-building my Enfield motor and (thank god) had the foresight to buy a handful of extras. I helped pack up my boss' old motorcycle shop and you wouldn't believe how many circlips I came across...

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Lol. I know what you mean. I didn't buy any extras, but i did have 4 extras from other bikes, i just wasn't sure if they would fit in the aftermarket piston. lol, luckily, i found one of them in the drive way at 10:00 at night with one light on. haha. and then again IN the garage.
I started it this morning and it ran like a top! never had something that starts on the first kick before.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
At one point I started a bike shop Scare Crow Cycles , and built this bike for shows . '74 Sporty on a Paughco ridged frame and wide springer .
I still have the bike , but my partner backed out after a year , and I didn't have the funds to keep going .
Does everything a HD is supposed to do , you know hard to start , leaks oil , quits running when you have to get somewhere , an adventure !
When I have time to get the bike started I enjoy a ride

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Hi Guys,
I tought you might like to see my brothers sprint bike, It's my former roadbike but....unfortunately rules are a bit strict in Holland so we made it in to an all racebike. It's an Suzuki katana from 1982. We are now building street katana.
Hope you like it....
Greetings from the Netherlands.......

Re: Motorcycle Thread
That's a fine looking machine Slammed.
I went to my buddies house to work on the bike. I removed the crappy led lights from the frame, cleaned the rest of the sticker residue from the front fairing and changed the oil. The old oil was pretty black so I'm wondering if the previous owner ever changed it in the 8000 miles that he owned it.
I also checked the rear sprocket and I think I know The answer to The oil question. I'll post a pic later. It ain't pretty.

Buying and riding a bike both can spell certain death for the buyer/rider.
Don't be a pussy. Bike the bike!

I've NEVER seen a sprocket that worn out before! Is that a steel or alloy sprocket? Must have a ton of torque or a bunch of mileage to wear the teeth of that much.
Wow.

Or the chain was too tight. Good you caught it!
No, I'm not buying the bike. I'm trying to clear stuff out now, not add to the chaos!
Maybe once we move.....

I'm sure you could snuggle up to the motorcycle between you and the wife's space in bed. A motorcycle does not have any tits, nor a vagina, there's no reason for her to get jealous!

Yeah, but money, time, space and she's afraid I'd kill myself on it kinda gets in the way. I tell her if I die it doesn't matter. She gets the house and can sell all the car stuff for a nice profit. Just dump me in a ditch somewhere, I'm easily replacable.

Yup, the chain is really tight. When I mentioned it, he said he likes it tight when he rides on the highway.
Here are the before and after pics of the front. Since I'm not "Puerto Rican to the bone" I had no use for the sticker or the others for that matter.
Now I have an area for John to stripe at Mike Meet.
