No, not the black switch. It is located in front, as if it's actuated by the index finger. The levers on the right could possibly adjust the manual timing and/or choke.
Look at the bike from the front angle to see what I'm talking about.

Hmm. Could be a loose engine mount allowing excess vibration to, um, cause your reaction.... Oh wait, was your girlfriend riding on the back...?

Re: Motorcycle Thread
I have had an itch for a while to get another bike. I had a couple of offroadbikes as a kid growing up, but never owned a street bike...until now.
I put a deposit down on this tonight....
Picking it up on Sunday and then it will be mine....
1976 KZ400. Runs and rides great. Well cared for by a local KZ enthusiast. I can't wait to get it home and start riding.
Of course I need to get my Michigan motorcycle endorsement and a helmet first.
Plan is to ride and enjoy it the way it is for now....and then maybe bob it in the future.

Just get the motorcycle manual from the DMV/RMV or what ever they call it in your neck of the woods, study it and take the test to get your permit. spend some time honing your skills and take a riders course (mine is in 2 weeks). Then just enjoy the hell out of it.
If at any time you feel you dont want it anymore, I'll be more than happy to come on out and pick it up.
Nice score brother.

I'll take seconds on picking it up from you if you get sick of it! I really do love the lines of that bike.

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Sorry, I got distracted by the Ol Vic bike... That KZ is a great all around bike. Good performance, light, and loads of fun. Looks like a set of Harley style tail pipes, should make for an interesting sound. Nice score!

Who knew Buddy Holly rode a motorcycle?
The Crickets on Triumphs and Buddy, far right, on a '58 Ariel Cyclone.
Also musician related: Brian Setzer's Triumph chop on eBay.

You'll love it, great score man. We picked this '78 up for my wife last summer, I've been riding it a lot while re-doing my chop and it's a blast. Great bike. I should be picking up a 76 parts bike soon too if you need anything let me know.
VID#1 - Her's has straight pipes

Re: Motorcycle Thread
Love the bike. looks like it's in Awesome condition. I saw plenty of those around back in the day. I'd get an old school leather strap 'glass brain bucket, a set of goggles and be done just the way it is.

I agree the bike looks great as is (although a set of clubman bars would finish it off nice) but please, Please, PLEASE get some proper riding gear! Leave the old shitty helmets on the shelf were they belong!

Full face or no face, you decide.
Personally, as ugly as it is, I prefer to keep my face.
Hope every one here feel the same about theirs.
