Can't have flowers (cat eats them) and I always get her anything she wants.
She is still asking if I'm going to get it. I might as I'm sure if I have to sell it I can get the money back on it.

But it isn't a car, and with the gas money you'd save on short quick trips, you might can keep another car~
At least that's what hubby told me

She reminds me about the classes to get a license, insurance and the cost of medical care or funeral arrangements! I'd be killed if I got another car. I have around 7 already!

Hmm. Seven? Okay, explain to her that seven is your lucky number and that will protect you from any bad mojo while riding the very green and fuel efficient motorcycle.

The continuing saga continues...
This time, rear axle seal and most definitely a dried out bearing waiting patiently to seize and cause havoc.

The goo looks yellow in the photo (maybe the bike's inner lemon?) but is actually a rusty reddish brown. The inside of the rear wheel is splattered with the stuff and at first I thought I had run over a small animal. Closer inspection revealed it was radiating from the axle seal so I rode home cautiously and called the dealership on Saturday. The service rep asked when I could bring it in to which I replied "it's a leaking wheel seal and a dried up bearing, I really don't think I should ride it, when can you pick it up?" His answer was " Uh, yeah I guess so... we'll pick it up on Tuesday". Fuck I love dealing with these guys.

At this point I don't want the bike back. I'm done.

So that brings me to what are my options. I owe too much on it to sell it. I got an email from the same dealership a few days back saying they are looking for trade ins because their used bike inventory is low. Hmm. Checked out their inventory list to see if there was anything worth trading the Buell in on and came across this little beastie...

It's an '05 R6 with 22,000 kms, a pipe and a power commander. Has a few scratches from an apparent parking lot tip over but nothing major. I went out today and test rode it and talked to a sales guy about a trade. Gotta go back on Tuesday when my bike is there and talk to a manager but the sales guy seemed confident we could make it work. So I'm thinking about making it happen. I do have some concerns. #1 being long distance riding. Is it going to be possible to spend 6+ hours in the saddle on this thing? I took it for a short run on the highway and it it actually surprised me how comfortable it was. The other main concern was dropping from 1200cc's to 600. After riding it that concern has been pretty much negated. The R6 has almost the same performance numbers as the Buell and a bit less weight so in this case I don't think (engine) size matters too much.

So what do y'all think? Am I fucking nuts?

TB: That 600 should be pretty sweet. Check to see when the valves were last checked. But, if it anything like my (much) older Yamahas, they go a long time between needing adjustments and the engines are pretty much bullet proof. For me, I'd need more upright bars for long distance comfort, and parts are likely available to do that if the R-6's are cast..I can't tell from the pic. Are you crazy?...aren't we all?

We've all thought you were nuts but I think you should make the deal. Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki all have better support then Harley ever had. My 929RR is 11 years old and still runs great. Granted I've only had it since Feb. but even with the maintenance neglect from the previous owner, it's a damn good bike and should last me many years.

Do it, do it, do it.......

Just got back from a nearly 5000 mile trip from Richmond, Va to Pikes Peak (for the Hillclimb) and back. Instead of trashing the thread with pictures and nonsense, check out www.classifiedmoto.com if you want to see any pictures or details.

I"d pull the trigger on that in a heartbeat to dump the Buell.

This is form another forum I frequent.

Quote:
One of my friends sadly died last month and I have been helping his brother dispose of his estate (no wife or kids). This consisted amongst lots other things, of 7 classic Fords, a Mini and this bike, which I believe is a 1958 Triumph T5 or something?

It is complete - we found what looks like a new seat in his front room. The clutch was cable-tied open and it and the engine are definitely not seized. I think it was last ridden about 10 years ago.
Anyone have an idea what it actually is, and whether it is particularly desirable?
Thanks awwwwfully.
Closest I can get is a Tiger T80 or T90, but I can't seem to find any pics of them with that oil tank. Anyone got any bright ideas?

Went in to the Hardley Davidson dealer at lunch and surprise surprise, the sales guy that I talked to on Sunday who told me to come back and see him today was off today. I talked to another sales guy who claimed to have taken the R6 in on trade for $5000 (cough bullshit cough) told me that without seeing my bike he would need the Buell + $1600 from me to get the R6. I did some calling around to other dealers and the going trade in value on the R6 is 4-4500 for a really nice one which this one isn't. I'm going to go back tomorrow and talk to the guy I originally talked to on Sunday. Around and around we go.

Take a Honda into a Kawasaki dealer and they will help you out/work on your bike/ order parts and maybe even smile. Take anything other than a Harley into a Harley dealership and they won't even talk to you. Fuck that shit.

Ok, so I've been slowly plugging away on my bobber and I just wanted to get some feedback. I changed out my handlebars and I'm not sure which I like better.

The low bars I started with.

The ape hangers I'm trying on for size.

If that Yamabobber was mine I'd flip the clubmans down cafe style or switch to drag bars. Bobbers should be low and narrow, apes are for choppers.
