this is awesome. i want to build a volksrod so badly, but don't want to cut up a god car. i'd have no problem butchering a super. so glad this is an option!

With all due respect HAX, these are great kits and exceptionly well worked out. Just "get a replacement frame head" is far, far easier said than done.

The idea of Dbugs kit, is to be bolt together.

A new framehead requires welding.

True but are they still being made? And from what i've seen this is the common answer shot out at other people who asked the same question.. (I've searched this topic before.) Bolt on kits are great.. but lets be honest.. the cheap super beetles are rusty... I could pick up 1973 sunroof for 500 (thats the asking price I could probably get it for less.. if I truly wanted too.. I don't care for supers myself.. ), and I know for a damn fact i'd need to replace the floors and heater channels.

Also with that said can you guys point me to a build thread here that didn't require welding at all? The kit is a brilliant idea and all in one built system.... bolt on and just go.. after you source a beam.. probably easier anywhere else that isn't MN. I honestly thought this kit never surfaced.. Don't see it on the site and I haven't heard of anybody running it... has it made it past the prototype stage?

Also I know a framehead replacement isn't easy You gotta make sure that fucker's welded on straight otherwise your alignment is roached and you could be kissing the nearest guard rail Or thats the fear of god that i've seen posts about it say.

Ps: I was looking at this kit awhile ago because there was a gold super beetle convertible 1979 that had some damage to the side that ran and drive.. Bla bla bla.. would have made a neat rod.. but i didn't know if the kit existed... didn't find any information... so Granted i'm much happier with my 1966 IF somebody has a super.. and they want this kit... DO IT. I want to see the results! If it works out maybe i'll start paying attention to the cheap supers that appear on craigslist.

There is a person on here that used the kit and was thrashing on it as well to put it through his own safety test of sorts.

Dbug needs to put this kit on his site,
so people will have a definitive answer as to if it exists.

That.. even if its made to order it'd be nice to know it exists.

It is indeed made to order...I'm not sure why he doesn't advertise them. Doug actually holds the patent on it. He made one for me a while back, and even though I haven't installed it yet, (looong story....) it looks to be made quite well.
