It was April of 2012 when I fab'd everything, I put it on back then but the calipers were bad, it took me 7 years to buy the calipers
I hope to have it on the road by Saturday, Sunday is the Cincinnati VW car show, I plan on driving it there

I have it together except the emergency brake, I need to fab some parts to connect it, I also need to buy longers studs, I drilled and tapped the hubs to get rid of the wheel adapters
I think it has a sticky front caliper too

Well I fab'd up a quick e-brake mount, I haven't driven it yet, maybe in the morning, I had to switch the original cable mounts from one side to the other to keep the cable from rubbing the outer CV, it puts the end of the cable at an angle, but it does work
In the future I'll see if I can make it better, I guess I'll just see how well it works after repeated use

Oh yeah I still need to get longer studs or longer VW lug bolts

Also when I was at the VW show Sunday I picked up 2 intake manifolds for a proggresive carb, I got 2 carbs a couple years ago, a new manifold was $75 I got both of these for $10 I guess now I need to get to rebuilding one of the carbs
This brings up another question, I know I have a book somewhere that explains the difference between the 2 different types of manifolds, I spent 6 hours looking for it, my mind is starting to fail as well from brain damage when I had the brain hemorrage 2-1/2 years ago (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it) so can someone tell me the difference, I've been searching a little but can't seem to find what I want

We’re just getting old. I hate how I can’t retain stuff like I used to.

That is about the best info I've found on the progressive weber setups. I believe the main difference in your two is that the two hole has a smaller plenum. The smaller plenum should help keep the fuel in the air, which is also why the article says to use heat.

Thanks, I didn't even think to look there, I ran one of these for years on one of my Bugs, I also used the same engine in my rail buggy, when I first bought it they didn't have the heat riser tubes, to stop the carb from icing up I wrapped copper wire around the intake manifold and then to the exhaust, it worked good until they got the tubes in, I had the manifold with the small plenum holes, I may try the other one to see if it's any different

I'm not getting old, I refuse, it's only my body that's aging
My short term memory is terrible, the only stuff I can remember are dates, and numbers, I can remember all the phone numbers from when I was a kid, with these smart phones I just click on a name, the only numbers I remember are mine, my wife's, and my mom's
I'm sticking with my brain damage story, I can use it to my advantage, like when my wife sends me to the store to get her cigarettes and I get home without them, gee honey I forgot about them and on that note it was 30 years ago on the 17th that I quit them

Now about my Volksrod, I bought a new wiring harness for it, not sure when I plan to pull the old one out, but when I do I wanna weld up all the holes, that should be fun, all those fender nut holes, I guess I have all winter

Getting ready to drop the motor to fix a few leaks, then drill the case for full flow oil filter, I made this mount before I put this exhaust on, I hope it doesn't heat the oil filter

I guess I can always lean it in a bit

I'd say build an aluminum heat shield around it.

I did get the starter issue fixed, I had a Ford solenoid relay so I bolted it to the tunnel next to the battery, and now it doesn't go click, it just starts right up, it's running bad, I imagine the carbs need to be cleaned and readjusted, it's overdue for a valve adjustment too, I think I'll do that this weekend

I have a lot of work to do, this will be the first time doing anything to it since I put the transmission back together in 2017, I did drive the hell out of it over the last 9 years

I also need to get some residual valves for the brakes, since I put the disc brakes on the rear the pedal travel isn't the same, I'll see if that helps

I think I'll just tilt the oil filter housing if the oil temp does start to rise, that will be so much easier
