Default When is narrowed to narrow?

I'm buying a '67 beetle w/ a narrowed front beam. It has been cut 8" and looks awesome but....
I know its personal taste but what is a practical cut size?
I'm going fenderless.
This will be my first bug. Sorry if it's been discussed and did the search.
thanks

i dont think a beam that narrow would look good on a fenderless car. sell it and make more $$ than a standard width beam will cost you to replace it

8" is crazy narrow. I can't imagine how it wouldn't rub the inner fender unless you're running some old 70s offset wheels. My 67 was narrowed 6" and looked sweet IMO. On a fenderless I think it would look funny unless you're going for the dragster look?

Yeah if you're gonna go that narrow, look into a really long beam extension and make the nose longer.

i can't see a narrowed beam looking anyting but ass on a fenderless car. you should just get a standard width beam and send the 8" to me. if it isn't some backyard special that looks like it's welded with dynamite i'd be interested in it.

Wasn't Mikelrome going with a 8' extension on his ride? You might wanna get with him, you could make a helluva interesting car with that setup.

I would say no fenders and a bean that narrow would not look right I do think it looks sick with fenders though

I'd tend to agree, I think that's probably too narrow to look good fenderless. Does it have shock towers?

I did my drag bug 6 inches and its too much. I dont like the "wheelbarrow" look. 4 inches narrowed is enough IMO on a full fendered car, Stock width on a fenderless car .

That pic is pretty small. It could be a 6".
This was my 67 with 6.5" beam and stock smoothie.

That looks more like a 4", especially when you look at how far in Charlies tires sit compared to yours.

Yeah that is probably a 6" beam.

Mine is a 5 1/2" beam with dropped spindles and 16x6" Fuchs. Stock smoothies will make a narrowed beam look even narrower

And yes, pulling into a parking spot usually means rubbing on the headlight buckets!

Yeah, smoothies really amplify the effect. Here it is with 5.5 5-spokes. Headlight buckets were cut out.

I did put an 8' extension on the Truck
I think a narrow beam would be hard to see out there. when I turn the front end will fall over. I don't think it would work. on the limo.

I know a lot of people like narrowed beams, but I like wider fenders better. I haven't dropped the front yet, but there will be plenty of room once I do. It has adapters (1" wider) and Chevy pattern wheels. All a matter of what you like. And fenderless I like a wider stance, too.
