Up Yours!
Re:: Forum membership... Support these guys... They're keeping it all alive for us
When I get my renewal notice I usually pay up really quick each year... I'm just a member with dreams of actually doing something one day, and contribute where my knowledge can be helpful... so I'm not the go-to guy for Volksrods by any stretch. But since I participate and enjoy the people on these forums, I think it's only right I throw down my support each year. It ain't much... That's for sure, but if we all do it, it should be enough. When your membership renewal comes around (or if you haven't contributed at all)... Up Yours!
This is a great Site!
(By the way... I'm a little lazy for not going and finding the older threads with the same thought... I know they're out there, but sometimes you need to start something anew.

Re: Up Yours!
yep, i'm no great source of information by any means, but I throw some money Steve's way every year. It's been talked about in the past, and he pays out of pocket, a few hundred dollars a month, to keep this place online. He doesn't have to, but he does it cause he knows we love it here..
The least we can do is pay him back a little for his time and money..

Re: Up Yours!
Here is what it says
To pay for your subscription, please click the order button next to your preferred payment method and follow the instructions on the following page.
The only button is paypal, I pushed it several times to see if any other options would come up, nothing did, I'll try to post a screen shot of the page, maybe I'm going blind

Re: Up Yours!
What he's saying above is that you can pay Through PayPal, using whatever source you have to pay with... but you still have to use pay Pal I believe, as they are receiving it through pay pal... if that makes any sense...???

Re: Up Yours!
I'll try again and see what happens, maybe I didn't try
My mind has been preoccupied with this gov shutdown stuff, it looks like it's gonna happen, if it only last a week, great, my wife gets a week off and will eventually get paid, 4 years ago when it shut down for 3 weeks it really sucked, payroll gets backed up, i feel bad for the ones who hafta go in to work even if it does shut down, mortgage company's and utilitie companies don't care, plus I went to get a prescription filled, last year it was $35, this year it went up to $188 a month, my wife's 1.4% raise doesn't even cover the increase in health insurance cost a month this year
I think I'm gonna start writing letters to those in charge, maybe 1 a week this year, fuck it, maybe I'll do it for the rest of my life or until change happens
I could so go on a political rant right about now

Re: Up Yours!
Well dang, if only I had scrolled down the page I would have seen the pay with debit card or credit card button, I need to get my computer fixed, this pocket computer screen is just to small

Re: Up Yours!
It's that time of year again! I just got a notice that my subscription was expiring..
Here's the deal (in my opinion, I don't represent the site, or Steve or anyone else..)
What do you get for sending $25 to Volksrods? a little thing by your forum name that says you did. That's it, nothing else (that I know of). You're not gonna get a certificate, or a plaque or even a kudos probably.
So why do it you ask?
Steve has paid out of pocket to keep this place alive. It is not hosted on a computer at his house, he pays for space on a server. That shit ain't cheap.
But the site is kinda dying, you say. Yeah, that's kinda true. but that's OUR fault. I'm more guilty than most for lurking and never posting, but I still like coming here daily and checking for other's posts, and I want to see this place keep living, even if it is on life support.
Money is tight for everyone, i get that. If you can't contribute, don't feel bad, just keep coming here and posting and shooting the shit with us. but if you are in a financial situation where you can spare $25 a year, please do! let's help out the boss man a bit!
$25/year is a little over $2/month.. so you do one less burn out a month, use the money you just saved on gas, and support Volksrods! :P

Re: Up Yours!
Yes... ^^^^^ That...
I'm guilty this year... I lost my job right about the time my "Subscription" ran out and was reluctant to spend ANYTHING for a few. I am now working and feel like I have a steady job that pays well again... so tomorrow I will spend a little time going through and upping Mine again. I will likely go ahead and spend double the money, as the new job pays pretty good and I am getting a chance to have extra funds (if there ever were such a thing) to enjoy things like this without feeling guilty for not applying it to my normal finances... Thanks for the reminder as I had forgotten about the Sub here. Somehow it's a real life changer to be working 3rd shift from a first shift point of view...

Re: Up Yours!
Hello again everyone!
I'm not sure exactly what happened, but last week, some of you may have noticed what i did, that the site went down for a day or so. It came back up, but it was just another reminder of something, We all take this place for granted. Myself included.
I know I've said this before, but I'm gonna keep saying it. Site Supporter subscriptions help keep this place alive, but they in no way shape or form fully fund the costs to do so. Steve pays out of pocket every month for us to have this form and all the history and tech know how it houses.
I know money is tight for everyone, but $25 a year isn't a whole lot, that's less than $1 per day in a single month. and every bit can help.
I dread the day that I try to log in and the site is gone for good, but I also totally understand that it is a very real possibility because what motivation does Steve really have to keep this place alive? If it were me, I might consider shutting it down to have that money back in my bank account every month, but we're fortunate that he hasn't made that decision yet.
Let's each do what we can to make this place somewhere worthy of the server space it takes up! We're all over north America and Europe, find out where your local VolksRodders are and lets start doing meets and hang outs again! I'd love to see a return of the temporary merch solution that was set up a few years ago. I forget the website but we would get VR stuff on all sorts of products and that money supported the site (I still love my set of volksrod coasters..:P ) who else needs new shirts or hoodies? Are there any graphic artists that would be willing to donate some of their time for new designs? This community is USER driven, this isn't a place to have things given to you, we all need to get back to giving to each other and the club :)
There's still a few of us (and seems to be more lately) who were here back in the day when this place was like a close knit family. That feeling is why I keep the tab open and check it daily, we had all the knowledge of the Samba, with none of the bullshit bickering and it was fun and inclusive, I want that back, help me figure out how to get there.
Ok, i went way sideways and off topic, but I've been wanting to say this for a while, so here it is.
Thanks for listening to me ramble!

Re: Up Yours!
I went Jobless for a little while earlier this year, but as soon as I got through that, upped mine too... Agreed... We ARE the site. if we don't support it... it dies. Simple as that.
25 dollars isn't even a solid Dinner at a restaurant. So treat yourself to a good meal of Volksrods stuff.... It'll last all year.

Good... I am not much of a contributor on here, but I do spend a minute or two every day checking it out and seeing anyone else's progress...
