Re: It's really happening...
After the mice/rats tore up wiring and made the carpet stink to high heaven, I am against a deadline of a week from Wed to have the car functioning for the Type 3 Invasion. Man, I hate vermin...

Re: It's really happening...
I just took my battery out and had to vacuum sunflower seeds out.
Good luck! I hope you make it!

I have been mouse free since sticking dryer sheets in all my projects. Don't ask me why it works!

Re: It's really happening...
Got the slave cylinder and new mount in. This was a 3 handed job due to the middy header pipe location. Oigh.

Re: It's really happening...
I had a bug that had been sitting in a driveway and I pulled a bunch of spare rib bones from behind the fan shroud.

Re: It's really happening...
After sitting for a couple weeks while she was on vacation, my mom’s car would barely run once it started. The air intake and part of the filter was packed with acorns.

Re: It's really happening...
I think I have finally found my no reverse shifter issue. After disassembling everything, cleaning, lubing and starting to reassemble I found that over 27 years, the cables have stretched. While they still slide freely, the left to right shift cable has grown almost 3/8". This has pushed things past their designed travel limits. So, now I am altering some dimensions to accommodate. Hopefully I will have an accessible reverse again, as well as a less vague pattern. Hopefully...

Re: It's really happening...
So, something didn’t go right? I have little experience with Type 3s.

Re: It's really happening...
This is the custom shift system from 1996 that has failed.

Re: It's really happening...
Today. For the 1st time in years, I have air cleaners on this car again.
Those will flow nicely and protect.

Re: It's really happening...
As you probably know, air flowing over them draws out the heated air from inside the engine compartment. Plus it looks cool!
The shift rod should be a good switch. The one I built for the modified Ford truck gearbox in the Transporter has performed flawlessly for over 70,000 miles.

Re: It's really happening...
Was the cable shifter an issue ? I just picked one up hoping it would be better.

Re: It's really happening...
Yes. Even new it was finicky. Now, 2+ decades later, it is worse. But... mine is a different style than what is currently out there.
