Default Wiring harness

Got a 77 std beetle that almost burned up on me. Need to replace the wiring harness. It has an electric fuel pump and dual carbs with electric chokes. Want to keep all the unnecessary crap, sest belt alarm, dome light, etc out of it. Kust want what it takes to start and drive and theblights obviously. Was told the 69 harness would be an easy install but the 72 would be better pr would the og 77 work just not use wht I don’t need??
Thanks in advance

I use an 8 fuse generic harness
Modern fuses, relays and such. Usually labeled wires too.
