Default Engine questions
Re:: 1958 bastard.

Okay guys hereís what Iíve been working on.

Today was eventful. I had one carb catch on fire, so after cleaning and vacuuming up the dust and cleaning out the carbs I canít get it to start.

Then again there was no damage done to anything, and I just installed these carbs.

Iím unfamiliar with the procedure to get a baseline with these Kadron carbs. The dizzy was timed set at 30 degrees advance at 3.5k rpm so that shouldnít be be problem and I can occasionally get it to start but it back fires heavily and starts then it dies immediately.

Any advice would be appreciated as Iím out of my element and we all gotta start somewhere.

I found a vacuum leak. The balance tube barn fitting broke off in my hand. I also replaced the fuel filter under the gas tank as it was ancient , and well the plastic was soft and almost sponge like,

I think Iím having a fuel pressure issue so I have an electric fuel pump with a fuel regulator on it that Iím just going to install and Bypass the mechanical one.

Intake leak. Spray carb cleaner around the base. If idle picks up, leak. If not, move up to carb to manifold gasket.

Itís an intake vacuum leak. Iím going to replace the gaskets on both side. I rebuilt the carbs and now after doing what I did itís now popping out of both carbs which is an improvement but, the left side still is leaking so Iím just going to cut my self some gaskets.
