Anyone read the write up on the chupacabra bike? $6885 on a Bicycle!? The guy who did the paint is the same guy who pinstriped my Ranchero. Oh yea and He paints for West Coast Choppers as well.

I decided to take a stab at building a chopper for my son. The first attempt is crude and not done yet. It started as an old Chinese Huffy 20" BMX style bike with no wheels.
Not done yet but here it is. Frame stretched 12' at bottom, about 6" at top tube, forks are now ~56" Sorry for the bad pics, I'll take more when it's done. I have about an hour and a half into it so far. Back wheel is regular 20" BMX, front is a 12 or 16 off a three-wheeled baby jogger.

I just picked up my new one tonight... My brother built it for me out of a frame I was given earlier this year...
The wheels I have had since my old days of BMX racing, the handle bars came with the frame, as did the seat...
Some parts are new, like the 26'' springer forks, hand grips and tyres, but most of the other stuff is just used bits from a few old bikes that were laying around...
I'm looking forward to taking some time off work and having a ride every so often...

well atleast i know she likes it
there was another guy there that has 6 of the new schwinn stingrays... he brought one out that he has been customizing.... even put gears on it. it was a good looking bike. i have some pics i can post tomorrow

Here's a pic of the "finished" chopper. I may get new handlebars for it and it needs a new seat but the kid won't stay off it long enough to do anything to it My second attempt will be much better.

i was working on extending my forks for my bike... what i did was take another set of forks and cut them off about 6 inches from the top and then welded that ontop of another set of forks. sounds a bit odd... looks a little like a tripple tree(but not really) i will take a pic when i can

Crack, that's the way we used to do it back in the seventies!(Old fucker alert!) I had a schwinn three speed bannana style bike with a stick shift and typical ape hanger syle handlebars, sissy bar and long bannana seat. We did it the same way all the time with the round, curved tube style forks. We'd chop the extra set just below the head piece. A good source for a nice stretch was 27" ten speeds. They were not quite as curved and longer. Slip them on over the original forks, then rode down the street to the welding shop. May be it's a Maryland thing.
Using 20 inch ones made the forks really curve out front.
