I realigned my steering box to the steering shaft (damn cheap CB Perf. beam). I put the blinker switch in.

no car related but I just got a call from Berkely PD they are processing my 15 year old son for a DUI, no license, expired insurance, driving the wrong way on a one way street. With his past that will put his license out to at least 18 but most likely 21.

Sorry guys... pissed off parent needed to vent!

bulldog~ venting is good, I do it all the time.
As for what I did yesterday, hmm, painted more flames, nah, nothing spectaculiar, just more practise, but my hand started hurting, almost cramping, couldn't pick up a glass. Hubby thought for sure it is a sign of carpal tunal ,,, then got to thinking about what I might have done to hurt it, hmm, maybe it was because it was raining thursday, youngest boy decided to bring home every book he had from school, broke a strap on his book bag, kept dropping it , I snatched it up by the handle , twisted wrist. I weighed the bloomin bag, 25LBS!!!! and he only had hw in one book,,,, kid only weighs about 54lbs himself...
other than that, nothing but more flames, wrapped wrist, for the last 24hrs, back at it again today~

since the board has been so quiet in the past few weeks,,,, WHat has everybody else been doing?

Well, no pictures of todays work. nothing too exciting to document. I made the rear curve of the quarter windows today... just the "L" section (flange & horizontal) Shrinker and stretchers are fun to play with. I almost got the compound curs down but an english wheel would probably be the right tool for the job. We are going to try and use the peices I made and use the compound curve section thats already on the car and doner material if needed. Made a few patch panels today as well and marked them all out to be cut on the car then welded in. Made peices to shave the door handles... cut out completely not just covering the indent. peices to cover the old hindge holes for that clean shaved look, and a couple other small peices as well. All & all a pretty productive day, but the quarter window peices took longer than expected. the flow is rounded now instead of jagged as it was, and I know they are both the same... which means one less pattern when its time to cut glass.

Bought this for my Hebster yesterday.

I will mount it on the rearbumper. I was thinking that I would paint it all black and just polish the embossed contours. Would look cool with a volksrods plaque underneath and with the all black Hebster including the Vintage style black licenseplates with white script...

Well, I started making the new shifter for "Skeletal Remains" yesterday. I got a jack screw from work and bent it up. I'll have to cut a couple inches off the top so it will fit inside the car once it's chopped but we'll worry about that later.
Any ideas for a shift knob?

knob,,,that's a tough one tim~

what i did ysterday,,, helped with inventory at hubby's store, didn't do much...... He tried to get a tg for bike, lady said gotta have it veriefied by a law officer,, for crying out loud, boss man just turned in the tag yesterday and the bill of sale has his name on it, hubby was pissed, no tag :yeling:
Grumbled at his driving like a mad man in the pouring down rain, he knows I get up tight with his driving, but you men don't change do ya

came home, he took 2 seats, 1 from his bike and a 900, cut them up to make one comfy one for him. Changed handle bars, tried to re attach clutch cable, it broke,,,,, better here than on the rd somewhere. But just like in a bug, says he can drive with out it,,, whatever.
Typical vrodder at heart, just can't leave anything alone~

No updates this weekend... Sorry..

Not just yesterday but all weekend...
My school started again this weekend (started to study for Bachelor's degree in Chemistry last winter which takes Friday evening and Saturday off my "freetime"...)

And yesterday (Sunday) I had to do some welding on the wife's new Ford Escort -83 daydriver... Her parents gave it to her last week but it needs some attendance before she can use it... And guess who have to fix it???

Got my car's engine to run! The owner parked it in 1998 and it has not been started since so it spewed dead spiders, rust and grass for the first minute, followed by 3 foot flames after that, but it runs!

What I started with:

Well, I finally found a few minutes to put a new clutch disc, pressure plate and throw-out bearing in the buggy. I got the engine put back in and hooked up. I love having a buggy, it only took 30 minutes to do.

Now, I just have to put in a new clutch cable, bolt down the hood, bolt on the windshield, hook up the new alternator, wash it and

Oh, it does have a "new" oil leak I have to fix.

haven't done much at all in the past week, been ill. but this weekend the dragon got attn again. When we did the speedy 4 engine pull 2 install weekend over a month ago, he found the oil leak on his engine that went in the dragon. The case nuts, finger loose but it was already installed then. It finally got a pull down saturday night. Pulled it apart sunday, to replace the case seals too, then the main bearings. Waiting on lifters now. Surprisingly everything else looks good.
While it's out, I'm gonna flame some parts. The doghouse and the underside of the deck lid

did the doghouse, will do deck lid later, can't work with no room to move. Engine still not done, shouldered lifters are a pain in the
this just adds to the 'fire within" theme~

bigguy, send me a link to the pic you are referring to. When time comes for your engine we'll see what we can do

yesterday~ ever have gremlins in your garage? well one ran off with a $10 pushrod. We took 8 out, I put 8 on the cart, with the rockers and the nuts in the rocker covers. He checked the length of one, set it down and last night we spent over an hour looking for it!
It will hopefully go in tonight,,,, I hope, bronco is running out of hay to burn~

Default Re: What did you do yesterday...

Had to go to pg. 5 to find this thread...anyway.

I put a new clutch shaft in the pedal assy. for the buggy. The hook on the one that was in there was bent, twisted and cracked. I thought about welding it up, straightening it, etc. but I just got another one from a buddy's scrap pile. It's ready to go back in now. I have the new LoCash Racing shortened clutch cable that I will put in at the same time. This will eliminate the "looped around & clamped" crap that is in there now.

I took the seats out to gain easier access to the pedals and noticed the pan was rustier than I remembered. It had a little rust where the pans were seamed when shortened but it has gotten pretty bad. So, I raided another buddy's parts stash and came home with two rear quarter pans I just have to get the "roll bar" out and start cutting. I'm trying hard not to pull the body and fix a couple other things while I'm at it. I'd like this thing to see the road again soon.

I also scored a three-wheel bike this week. It will become a chopper with 4-5' forks and some frame mods when I get time, maybe by the end of the year. I have to weld a beam or scrounge some parts to trade the guy for it.

Today, I went to Melbourne, Fl (about 3 hrs away) and picked up a rusty 63 ragtop bug. It is one of the roughest bugs I've ever owned but it's a parts car for my other 63 ragtop. Of course, it came with some extra parts but nothing worth mentioning. I'll post some pics tomorrow or Tuesday. The two cars will come together as my volksrod although I think I will run fenders but I'm not sure yet.

I loaded the rail buggy up and took it to a buddy's house while I had my brother's trailer. I didn't want to mess with rebuilding the front half of the frame so I just gave it away.

I'm currently getting estimates for a concrete slab for the 24x30 garage I'm about to get built. That's going to be huge compared to the NOTHING I have now. I'm waiting on a friend of my brother's to try to beat my best price. He does good work (has poured three slabs for my brother). Then I'll be able to hook up my compressor and welder and have a place to & out of the weather.

Did some more work on the Chassis for my my Buggy. Put some rake in the frame head since the brazillian piece of shit frame head that I bought has negative castor when fitted correctly. Anyway, I also worked and did some drywall in a room I have been adding. Got asked to work at my friends shop to help him restore this Jeepster he's doing for someone. Gonna do that sometime this week in the evenings.

Centerpunched a coon on the way to a show in Des Moines. Bent the cheezy bumper into the hood, and mashed the apron good. Nice time at the show though.
