If this freaking weather would cooperate, I could work on altitude problems...

Rained a bit yesterday and then began pouring from about eleven last night until a few minutes ago. Wait, can it be....blue sky!!! Or at least some chunks of it hanging up there among the clouds. Maybe I can back out the Single Cab and continue on the panel repairs.

So, since i am broke and the wheels need a change, do I go black with chrome lugs or dark red with chrome lugs? The interior is a dark red.

I'm stuck on color. But, I don't like the stock silver.

IMHO, red would add a bit of 'sizzle' to the Squareback.

Well, I went black. But... I need center caps, or better yet, spider center caps. Anyone know what will fit these stocker 4x130s?

Semi's second trailer rear wheel/dock bumper hit my car yesterday and never knew it. Now, I am at the whim of the insurance company.

Today was a problem solving day. We located the very annoying, ever present rattle. Found it to be in the rear engine mount, not the exhaust/heater/preheater assembly. So, we removed the right rear mount and inspected it. Nothing seemed out of place or broken, so we started the engine with a jack stand acting as that mount. Rattle gone!
So, we decide to pull the left rear mount and compare to the right. All is well. So, we switch the mounts side to side to see IF the issue moves. Nope! So, after more head scratching and diagnosing, we realize the rattle goes away when applying pressure to the right side of the exhaust. Hmmmm... decision time. We decide to raise the right side of the engine, shim the right side mount at the body. Bingo! Rattle gone!!!
After that, we determined my acc pump rods are set too long. So, tomorrow I will pull the carbs, shorten the throw, pull the spark plugs and clean/gap/or replace and try a different set of pkug wires to see if I can lose this warmed up, high speed miss. Getting closer!

Woot! Been adjusting the alignment.
Currently have a very minor pull to the right. Any adjustment the other way and then a slight pull to the left. So... right it is!

Alright. Finally have my misfire, hesitation fixed!

Trying to be methodical in my work (I know, right?) I did one thing at a time and tested.
1st, adjust valves. No change.
2nd, change plugs. No change.
3rd, replace plug wires. No change.
4th, change cap. No change.
5th, replace rotor. No change.
6th, check fuel again. No change.
After 3, 4 and 5 I put the old parts back in.

7th, my sneeking suspicion, though rare... replace the condenser. Bingo! All high speed misses, hesitations are gone.
I know they normally work or don't, but if you have a mystery miss, this could be your issue
I think, in 30 years of VWs, this is only my 2nd partially failed condenser.

So, some cosmetic upgrades need to happen to my roof.
I am torn between doing a pewter roof or a dark red roof.
The interior has dark red cloth and the dash is still garnet red, but I think the pewter roof would look good too. :-k

I have had a lightly pushed in front right corner on this car. Today, I took action.
Less than 10 minutes with the hydraulic ram in 2 places. Woot! Look at those gaps!
