Default VW Swingaxle stuck side gear

Question for those smarter than me. I have a side gear stuck in my transmission and am trying to figure out how to get it out. It should slide out, but seems to get caught where the circlips clip in.

When I installed it - it was super snug - more so than the other side. I clearanced it a bit - still more snug than I wanted - but it slid in with a very soft rubber mallet tap.....guess that should have told me, lol!

Anyway - guess I will try to clearance it some more - and not swear too much, lol!

Happy New Year everyone!

Default Re: VW Swingaxle stuck side gear

I had a Super diff that way. It had some burrs and a little galling maybe due to being too snug and not a lot of gear oil getting in there. I used a long punch and drove it out from the other side.
Its too bad that the people that know it all cant do it all.

Forget the plastic, Drive a classic.
