Default 4" narrowed beam

So I am looking to narrow the beam on a 77 standard. It has Monroe airshocks on the front taht I would like to keep in place. It also has disc brakes and standard smoothie wheels and little skinny tires.
Can I narrow the beam 4" and leave the shock towers in place?
Will I need to cut the inner fender/body or beat it in a little for shock tower and wheel clearance during turning>
Thanks in advance.

I already had the wheel off my bug. So I took a pic. This is a 3” narrowed beam. Maybe with some tin trimming and a shock tower notch.

3” narrowed with dropped spindles. 4.5” front wheels with 145 tires. The 1/4” spacer is because the rim was scraping the caliper. Rear rims are 5.5”.

4" is the limit without cutting, it should fit for you.

no i didn't, it was cut down when i got my car. it was cut to about 4 1/2" and the front of the car was all hacked. when i changed bodies and didn't want to cut up the new body i had to get creative and fab some shock mounts that came out the side between the two tubes because i didn't have room on top.
