Saab Sonnet.....Can't remember the spelling but I think it is right. I almost picked one up in the late 80's.

A Saab Sonett and one of my favorite rides. I had one when I first moved to where I am now. Cool four cylinder V4 from Ford. Looked exactly like a 289 with four fewer cylinders and a balance shaft. Mine had the two barrel Weber progressive conversion and went like STINK ! ! ! Kind of a funny loose shifter, and VW parts through out. The dash vents were from a '68 and up Type II.

The roll bar was part of the cooling system. Sheet metal chassis/pan/sills and a fiberglass body set up on top of it. I was lookin' for an early TVR at the time and scored that instead for $300 delivered. The valve stems began wearing down and I couldn't find lash caps that would stay on, so I sold it . . . . shouldn't have . . . . Thanks for reminding me of that sweet little car ! !

Were you two hauling Nate's over-priced wreck back to Dan's ? ? ? I'm callin' the town and tellin' 'em ! ! ! ! ! That ain't no garden shed, it's a shit box ! ! !

Yep, They had the V4 from the Taunus. Early ones were still two strokes. I drove one a long time ago. It was kinda weird driving a little sportscar with a column shift.

it wasnt overpriced for what he had to pay to buy it back. 2 people split the price for it.

Come on Nate, EVERYTHING is over priced to TC. Unless it has a Porsche badge attached to it and is rusted to shit.

Speaking of which, how much is that 912 around the corner from your house going for?

That's gettin up there for an Isetta. Z-trim cars in good condition are usually a good bit above that.

Schmitts have been selling in that range or higher for a while now. Their prices have actually gone up now that there are a few places to get repro parts and sheetmetal for them. They didn't sell for crap when you had to make everything yourself.

What's funny is back in the 80's at the St. Pete, FL drag strip someone used to race one in the street stock class on Sat. nights. They would leave the tree and get about 3/4 of the way down the track before the lights would start for the other lane! They would will their first couple of rounds because of the other racers red-lighting.

Now I know some of you may dissagree with me but this has got to be the worst color for a Porsche. I snapped this pic on my way to lunch with the Mrs.

On late model cars I agree, but the all time ugliest has to be that split pea soup green from the 70's.

I know I am new here to posting but I have been lurking for years. This bug was at the KKOA Leadsled Spectacular in Salins, KS. Great show. Here are some more pics...

IMHO, German cars and Porsches should be one of 5 colors- Silver, Gray, Black, White or Red.

I have to admit to liking a bright yellow 996 or Cayman.

That slightly darker than pea green is a huge seller in germany.

I've got two friends that have the almost exact same car. My son has been bugging me to get one of them for a while. My wife just can't handle owning anything with that bowtie badge.
