Default 1972 Nopar Volksrod Hellride

Just joined the site, so we'll jump into this build mid-process. It's a 72 Beetle body on a box tube frame. 1966 SBC 283 with a 7040263 4MV Quadrajet. 72 Chevelle rear end and Chevelle Hubs on all 4 corners. The car has been roughed out, but all the refined details, rust repair, etc is in process.

This is as it looked this weekend.

I'll follow up to get this thread posted with details that got me here. I've just been chomping at the bit to get a thread started on the forum since I joined.

Thanks, fellas. I'll have to get some posts going that catch the build up. For now, this is what I have going this week:

I'm went with sprint headers, but unfortunately they didn't quite clear the body out of the box. So, I cut them at the mounting brackets, flipped the brackets, and welded them back in to get me the right angle to clear under the body. Then, because I don't have tube bender and I didn't want to fork out $150+ on buying mandrel bends, I decided to pie cut these 3" tubes to put together my exhaust. 38 pie cuts and 40lbs of industrial mix later, I kinda question the intelligence of my thriftiness.

38 pie cuts? This is what keeps us out of trouble. Plus, it looks slick.

I machined up some trim rings to retrofit Pontiac Catalina lenses for tail light. Still waiting on the buckets to complete the job.

I’m installing halo and bullet LEDs to act a brake and running lights.
