You could be right, that sure ain't Modesto. And that would be one long ride on a small bike.

Yeah, that's Morrow Bay. I'm going to school in San Luis Obispo. Definitely a long ride ride from modesto. lol. It was still a long 45 minutes to Morrow Bay at 55MPH. I need to head back and get a picture with a real camera.

The more I look into these moped cafe racers. the more I love them. What's the law on them? Is it true you don't need to register or insure them?

Here in California, 50cc or under doesn't require registration or insurance. A local who rides one around these parts say that he doesn't have to have a motorcycle or driver's license.

Moped/scooter laws vary. Here you have to be 14 and hold a moped permit, motorcycle or driver's license to operate a step through scooter under 50cc. We have seperate regs for scooters and mopeds. mopeds must have pedals. Neither can have a manually shiftable transmission. 50/70cc pitbikes have to be registered as motorcycles, but only if they have larger than 10" wheels. I had a YSR 50 about 25 years ago that I had to tag and insure even back then. Nothing under 50 cc requires a registration or insurance, 50cc or more requires tags and insurance.

Texas is probably totally different of course.

A guy I grew up with had a Puch moped like that we used to really fuck with about back then. He probably wouldn't have gotten so much shit if it had looked like that.

dont believe a lick of that you do have to register them and get a m1 but thats if they ever stop you which will prolly never happen but its better than the ticket youll get or get your ped impounded

73 Sportster I built for a customer some time ago.. He rode from PR, crossed Dominican Republic and all the way across Haiti on that bike (i took a bare Dyna)

Stock frame with rigid section..

My bike on the "highway" to Cap Haitien (North) about 100 km away.. ( I had washed that bike a few hours before)

Got the engine case in my shadow fully apart (almost).. only thing left now is fabbing a spring compressor to remove the snap ring holding the final output shaft in place, then I can figure out assembling it in the new case..

looks like some water sat in the front cylinder though..

Picked up another motorcycle this evening...

Complete 1982 Kawaski 550 LTD.

It has sat for the last 15 years or so. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet, but couldn't pass it up for $100.

Manage to get it hosed off (thanks to the unseasonably worm weather we have been having) and in the garage. Had to drill out the ignition since they couldn't find the keys and the steering was locked.

It cleaned up pretty good.

I may part it out and/or use some of the bits for the Bobber I want to build. Might just get it going as is and ride it for a while. Will see in the spring.
