XS650 is a great start for a bike. They are reasonably priced and with all the weight cut off by making it a chopper, they really scoot right along... That is what I used for mine when I built it.

Started with this...

and ended up with this....

Yeah we made a crude jig but it did the trick. My uncle that built this with me now has an actual jig and it works soooo much better.. Maybe once Im done with my bug I will build another 650 because I really miss that one.

Those toaster tanks are the shit.

I swear that XS looks like it came out of the Detroit Brother's shop. Any influence on your build? Also, that hardtail is definitely an interesting way to go, without the standard hardtail kits look.

Bad ass bike.
Build another one.

Actually we built that bike before I even knew who the Detroit Brothers were. Funny thing is, pics of it were posted on their forum and now every time we go to the Vtwin expo in Cincinnati they remember me and the bike.

at a junk yard today snagging parts, this is odd~ (edit, just saw it referenced as a toaster tank in above pics )

parts he got~ headlight bucket off of odd thing above.

yes, another tank, and the guy at the junk yard who carted us 1/2 mile back has another tank , says it's wide. Gonna get it too even if it doesn't go on beast , I'll use it as a practice piece.

My first bike that I just picked up... was looking for an R75, but found an R90/6 for a good price. first order of business is to go from having a permit to a license, then the take off the fairing and hit the road

Looks like fun! Lose the fairing, rear fender, shorten up the seat/tail, and clubman bars or clip-ons. Done.

Just wanted to share this update because.... well I really like how it's looking this far. Won't be able to work on it for some time so I'l probably get really tired of looking at it standing like that in my hallway, but at this moment I am really happy with it.

Looks like an old CB77 - 1960's. Cool bikes but with TINY engines, usually around 250-350cc motors.

Pretty trick looking little bikes.
