This is why you shouldn't try any of these stunts. All but 2 of the wrecks in this video are my nephew. The first one, he was air-lifted out. In another, he broke his collar bone.

He and his crew used to be sponsored by Red Bull and would preform at shows and race tracks.

Once again, don't try this yourself.

^^^I think with a little effort and less than a grand you could duplicate that bike easily!

Making a swing armed bike into a rigid is stupid simple! Just fix the bike to a table (level and square), then use the adjusters and plates at the wheel to attach your upper bars. Once you have that done, remove the swing arm and add your bottom pieces. That's a simplified explanation, but the key is to maintain the factory geometry-that way your not having to worry about alignment, it's already been done for you! All it requires is a little craftsmanship, something I believe Volksrodders have in spades!

I was going to wait till the weekend and see if it's still available. I have a buddy that knows more about bikes than I do so I was thinking I could take him with me and if I like it and he gives it a I was thinking I would offer 2K. I just wasn't sure if 2K was crazy money for what I would be getting....... If it hasn't sold by this weekend I'm sure I have a better chance of getting it for 2K.

This is my kind of thread! figured i would throw on here some of my past work on bikes and other 2 wheeled projects.

the black and white bike is the first bike i built. i call it the Harlisaki. it made pissing off harley riders too easy. nothing against harleys, i own a buell, but you guys dont like to be fooled into liking a jap bike. (it is a 1978 kz750).

next up we have what was left of my CBR after playing tag with a full size pick up. i would say the truck won, but i did bend his frame

the honda looks cooler than it was. the rear suspension never really got set up correctly. too soft.

the street tracker was the fastest project ever and therefore not very rewarding. sold it right after i finished it.

i built the scooter to run around campus at CSU. way too much fun! wish i would have kept that one.

i better stop there. i feel greedy taking all this space. a lot of nice bikes on this post though. if you ever have a chance to go to Leeds, AL, check out the Barber bike museum. in an 8 hour day you wont see the same bike twice.

I'm putting a call in this weekend to see if the Suzuki bobber is still available....... However..... my buddy has a co-worker with a bad ass harley and he's asking $4K...... but my buddy is going to try his best to get it for me for $3500....... I think the harley would be the better return on my investment if I ever needed to sell it or wanted to trade up......

Ok here's my problem........... I have a chance to buy this bike for $4K (excuse the crappy pic, it's a scan of a printed picture). It's about a 1976 Ironhead motor in an aftermarket frame with current "Special Construction" title and registration in California. I like the bike, it's in good condition but not perfect. Needs a tuneup, has a couple of rock chips in the paint but nothing serious. How good of a deal is it for $4K? I almost had it for $3,500 but the guys wife got involved The reason I'm asking if it's a decent deal or not............ I can scrape up the $4K but....... I'm losing one of my roomates and there is a rumor at work that we may be cutting back to a 32 hour work week (4 days). If I buy this thing and my shit goes really bad do I stand a decent chance of recovering my money by reselling it? I would buy it with the intention of keeping it. I would only sell out of necessity. What do you think

EDIT: I forgot to attach the pic

Don't do it.

You don't sound absolutely stoked. If it was THE bike, then maaaybe.

There's lots of bikes out there, and NONE of them are worth the stress of being caught in a tight financial situation.

I guess it depends where you live because up here $4G's doesn't buy a heck of a lot of Harley ... certainly a hell of a lot less then that

Iv had several very nice sportsters (Iv taken them as trade-ins for my VW trikes)and I got rid of them as soon as I could.. They are loud, nasty, vibrate like crazy..kind of fast and will make your penis grow when you twist the throttle...

Truth is they are poorly designed and very rough. Around here I can buy a 4 grand sportster every day! Thats a nice looking bike and its a "HARLEY". Dont be fooled by the name and mystique.

Okay, I was just out for a backroad ride on my Cafe style Iron Sporty, so I'm a little prejudice...but don't buy it. If you like tinkering on these, don't mind getting greasy, or the sudden complete breakdown, they're fine. But the new Evo stlye bikes are much more relaible (with more than a couple of exceptions) and stress free. Plus, with a custom bike your never really know what's going on and sometimes the details can get a little, um, odd. I've been through everything to get my bike where it is and it's dead reliable, but/because she hasn't got much Harley left in her.

The later model ones are "evos" not iron heads. Waaaay better engine,,Waaaay better bike!
Belt drive,5 sp, 12vdc, electric start,disk brakes.
I prefer my stripped down GoldWing
