Tim, Hubby just looked at your pics, and asked, wth is a JAWA? lol! no he doesn't read here much anymore, but he did say it looks good~

Hubby has scrap iron ALMOST ready to,~~ roll around the yard. Soaking carbs now, has electrical run, just has to wire in the rear fender , has to adjust the clearance on rear fender for chain now that he actually has a new lengthened one on it, plus new sprockets. Seat was moved, shocks were moved, all after he painted it last year~
If he gets it out today, I'll put up a short vid or pics~

A Jawa is a small being indigenous to the desert regions of the planet Tatoine. They scour the landscape looking for discarded metal, vehicles, robots, etc.. to rebuild or customize for resale. You could say They are the planets hotrodders.

Actually, its a bike from the Checz Republic. They've been making the bikes since the 20's and are pretty known for their flat track race bikes. I've learned they were very well built and dependable from what I've seen online. Once we sell the RF900R, I'm going to bring this one to the shop and get it back on the road.

Tequilla, It is a non kick Sporty, electric start only. Left side shift also. I am going to say that if you get any manual for a post 74 and pre 85 (evo) you will get what you need as far as technical. They changed the starter configuration later in the life of the iron head sporty, but the other crucial stuff will be similar. There were significant frame changes in about 1980. So if you are looking for more accuracy with the chassis, pre 80. But you have a custom frame, so that isn't necessary.

I had a 71, 73, and a 85 Sporty years ago. Good bikes. Just keep the oil changed in the ironheads!

Heres some pics of the bike I have been working on for a guy, 98 harley softail.
I had to make brackets and mount the gas tank, oil tank, had to notch the frame for the oil fill, weld in and smooth where the frame horns were cut off, and I still have to mount the rear fender but I've been waiting for parts to install the wheel so I know where its positioned.

I blasted the oil and gas tanks and threw some etch prime on them so they wouldnt rust anymore, then I gotta do a little filler work on everything and I'm painting it Hotrod Flatz Copper Pearl with black/white pinstriping. Frame will be satin black.

I appreciate and respect everybody's opinion when I posted here about thinking of buying it. Bottom line is I liked the bike too damn much to pass it up and 4K seemed like a decent price. Worse condition I think I could recover my investment in a short time if I was forced to sell it.

My buddy who is a harley guy but not an expert was mentioning some of the things you said and put it at '77 to newer. I need to start looking for a manual.

Except for the fact that the engine is waaay prettier than mine, it looks just like my `83. The manual I use covers from `78 to `'84 (Iron Heads) and should work out for you. The earlier photos didn't do your new scoot justice.

It was a scan of a printed picture so the quality wasn't great. Getting ready to head to head out to the Laughlin bike run on Wednesday Driving my G/F's car cause I'm not ready for the ride just yet..............(were the support vehicle)

That's where I got the info from....... I can post up my engine serial number later when I get home. Their example is a total of 9 digits......... My engine serial number is 6 or 7 digits and has some letters....... I'll post it up later today.

HD part # 99484-85 You can probably order it at your local HD boutique. I found mine in a used book store. Photos, illustrations and info is top notch

I'd picked up a couple for free Yamahas for parts and such, and sort of slipped 'em in where I thought they'd be out of sight for a while. Thinking fast, I countered with, "tell me how many rose bushes you have in you garden right now." She has about 40 and she knew that I had her, this time. At least she din't bring up the Wankel Suzuki.

That was the second bike I ever had. It replaced the 74 Kaw F7C i had. I love dual purpose bikes. I've actually been looking at the motard version of the Honda CRF230
