Keith's project Ghia, Vivian
Hello everyone, my name is Keith and I live in southeastern AZ. I have quite a few projects going on at the moment, but the real project is Vivian, my '60 ghia.
I have three projects ahead of her, my son's '73 Ghia, my '90 Suburban, and then my daughter's '63 ragtop. Then Vivian gets to undergo her transformation.

Re: Keith's project Ghia, Vivian
Realized I should give more information on Vivian. She is currently on low profile tires, with a 6" narrowed front beam, dropped one notch in the back. She breaks the white disks in the road when she goes over them (those are hockey pucks for cars right?). Running a 1641 currently. Plans are to modify the body quite a bit to include a mild chop (other plans you will have to stay tuned to this channel). Motor will be a 2332 Turbo running around 8 lbs of boost for daily driving and around 25 lbs at the track. My son's ghia should be complete in March of 2012, then I have to rebuild the family car, a '90 suburban. We are supposed to be taking a family trip this summer and that is the only car that we all fit into (and it has A/C - which is a must going to GA). So, Vivian stays a "hoodride" and my daily driver until July. Hopefully this portion of my posts will begin to get updated in August. In the meantime, please follow my progress and help keep my motivated in my other thread:

If that link does not work, it is entitled Son's '73 Ghia - a distraction

Re: Keith's project Ghia, Vivian
So we have been working on other things as most of you know, but I did manage to get Vivian cleaned up a bit and drove her to the Bugtoberfest at Chirco last weekend.
She has been my daily driver for the past year or so while we are working on house stuff, the garage and my son's car.
Cruizing up to Tucson was a fun trip - there were seven of us in all. I was laughing the whole way as all the other cars passing us were waving at the bugs - but apparently had no idea that a Ghia was part of the convoy (or a VW) so they just drove past me.
The show was pretty cool, I did meet Hotsauce but not Grimey or anyone else.
A Tucson Club - German Metal - gave out a club choice award.
It was an ammo can that had been pinstriped with a small tool set inside.
I was pretty surprised that they had selected Vivian for this.
I also sort of "stole" third place in the Ghia category. I had entered in the Daily Driver, but that was never put on my registration. Everyone assumed I was in the Ghia category so I ended up with third. That totally surprised me as well.
The trophies were little "men" that are pretty neat.
So, it was a good weekend. Now it is back to the garage to finish working on stuff out there.
This SHOULD be Vivian's last adventure in a show before she gets and .

Re: Keith's project Ghia, Vivian
Just a small update on Vivian. No pictures, nothing picture worthy.
A few months ago she was leaking transmission fluid (notice I didn't say tranny fluid - that is something completely different) really bad. So I got a new pair of boots, put them on, and she started leaking even worse!
Turns out I bought the cheap ones that don't seal completely. So a few weeks ago, Ibought new ones and put those on. Transmission stopped leaking at the boots, but was leaking from everywhere else. So I decided to pull the transmission to put all new gaskets in it.
A couple weeks ago, when I pulled the motor out - I put it in Pamela, my DC. That was a fun couple of days. The DC is a whole 'nother story.
Well, life has a way of screwing up all of our plans. I had planned on doing a few things to the ghia, but every other car stopped working so I needed to get her back together as my daily driver again.
Took me a couple days and Vivian didn't make it easy - but she is back together and ready for work on Monday. Guess she didn't want me to have any of the other girls as my "main girl".
It will be awhile before she undergoes her transformation, but stay tuned. You won't want to miss her transformation. In the meantime - I will be doing a '63 choptop after my son's car.
