Re: It's really happening...
I like those fender flares ,
I've seen big ones on trucks with the big 44 inch tires, I guess they make them for any size tire someone might want
Looks like things are coming along nicely

Re: It's really happening...
I used one to notch the ends of one piece of 0.090" wall 1-1/2" tube back in 1997, it seemed to work ok, I used a 6 flute end mill on a Bridgeport mill, it wasn't my tube notcher but it was bought at H/F, I worked with the guy who's it was, he used it on a bench mount drill press using a hole saw, he went thru a few of them things but I think he was just feeding it down to fast because they kept grabbing and chipping teeth off, I wasn't there when he was doing it, he didn't have any machining experience, he was a welder

Re: It's really happening...
And use light pressure feeding it down and you should be good, bolt everything good and tight as well

Re: It's really happening...
Found a tubing notcher to borrow. Now the shoulder belt bar is tacked in.
Looks like I will have to build a new seat mount. I bent one apparently...

Re: It's really happening...
Is that shoulder bar too high ?
Check the NHRA spec on shoulder belts.
IIRC, should be lower than the top of your shoulder, so the belts work properly.

Re: It's really happening...
It actually is below my shoulder. 914 seats cause this illusion. Look atpost 21

Re: It's really happening...
OK, I have the same problem.
Most commercial aircraft seats, the top of the "head rest"
is below the top of my shoulders.

Re: It's really happening...
Do you like the 914 seats. I always wanted to get a pair. They turn up cheap at times.

Re: It's really happening...
Yes, mostly. The are fixed back, so no real custom sitting position.

Re: It's really happening...
Alright, all the stuff I could do for zero $ is done for now. Both sides cut, slicks mounted, racing hoop and support bars mocked into place.

Next up is to find a welder that can see and lay quality welds.
Oh, out with the old...

Re: It's really happening...
Interesting day at the track.
Tire rub on the fat butted, driver's side rear. Enough that I aborted both attempted passes.
But, even with the slicks at 28lbs, I cut 1/2 sec off my 60fts feom where I was with the radials.
Today I am working on ridding the car of worst of the rub. With the radials, there was very minor squat in the rear. With the slicks, I found out just how soft the rear suspension is  So, working on limiting squat now... We shall see!

Re: It's really happening...
In the stash of stuff, i have a pair of Marvin Shaw 'Cruiser' shock absorbers that are nitrogen charged. After talking to the owner of the company today, i have a game plan for limiting squat at launch. 300-325 psi to start...

I always wondered what kind of pressure those shocks were good for.

Re: It's really happening...
Started the swap from carbs to the turbo as a draw though for racing. Still have to rotate the turbo.
