That there is the slickest Bug I have seen in a while
I would really like to take a long look at it in person

I wish I had half that much money to put into my Bug

I was just thinking how loud it must be in the driver's seat with the engine right behind you and those big old injectors sucking away.

It was cool seeing a VW, though very heavily modified, in Hot Rod.

Agreed! I love HRM. But like all print media, theyíre dying. I think their latest editor in chief doesnt even wrench (or maybe thatís Car Craft) I wish they and Car Craft would do more foreign stuff with Anerican Power.

They had a LS powered Rabbit last month in HR. I saw it last December at the indoor nationals in MD. The builders father was telling me it just did a photo shoot for HR. Nice practical build when compaired to that Bug.

Yup, I agree with John. For me the bug falls under the heading of Rolling Sculpture.

And speaking of Buick powered bugs....Back in the mid-seventies I used to drive by a gas station on the way to work in Sunnyvale. There was a sort of 'Cal Look Bug' parked out front. I stopped one time the bug was up on the rack and things looked pretty interesting. The bug was running a 401 Buick (in the front, but set back so the stock hood fit) , automatic and a narrowed Buick rear end. The owner of the station, also the builder, had been stationed in a motor pool in Germany while in the Army. He'd secured the drive train from a totaled Staff Car, built the bug in 'the pool and brought it home when his assignment was over. He drove it as his "work car." Aside from the heavily louvered and stepped back deck lid, some wide tires in the rear, the front seats set back a ways, a radiator in the back, and a few other details, the bug looked pretty stock.

That LS Rabbit was cool. Hereís a cabby body I wrapped around a Fiero chassis with a 2001 GM 3.8 supercharged motor, minus the super plus a Holset HX40 Turbo from an 8.2l Cummins

Love the alternate rides. Little imagination and some hard work gets you way cool stuff.

I just love how folks are thinking outside the "Bug, Bus and, um. of course the "Bunny." Only a couple of years back, "ferrin' hot rods" weren't accepted in our local car shows. Now we've become popular. A nice thing about the VW shows is that as long as it's a VW, no one cares what you're running for power, etc.
