All told the ornaments went to 20 different states and three foreign countries: Canada, Australia and Belgium.

OK. Let's see more pictures of these things finished, installed or otherwise displayed.

Checking in form NC is the proud owner of the sought after #50. I first polished the top of the bird and the base, and then I painted the banner. I though it made the unpolished part look like it was painted with aluminum paint. So I polished the rest out, well the left side. I will do the right side as time allows. Thanks again John for all your time and work, making it possible for me to have this fine hood ornament.

Awesome. Love the look. Great to start seeing these on people's cars.

Everyone should have theirs by now. Keep the pictures of them on display (on cars or otherwise) coming.

That looks great!!

I have a buddy that does good work polishing metal so he has mine. I'm not in a hurry since I don't plan on putting it on my vert or my bus. If it said "Bugdust" I would put it on the vert I'll call him tomorrow and see if he has started on it. I actually forgot about it.

I just sat and read this whole Thread. I think this is one of the coolest pieces of art work I've seen done. I'm kinda glad it's missing the VW logo, and has been replaced by the Volksrod one.

A friend of mine and I had some X-emblems made several years ago, to replace the standard hood top logo, Scott H uses my photo as his avatar.... I don't really mind, but.... I guess I should dig them up for comparison... I took the pictures on a piece of black Grill cloth off of a Speaker.

I still have a box full of those puppies , and even some done in brass like these. Back then it was all because of the VWOA being a bunch of turds.... Have they turned their direction around and made it less of a crime to use the VW logo on websites?

To "jaransonT3": Maybe a Volksrod Cog to replace the VW logos?

Ok........ #33 checking in......

I went with a full de-burring......Satin red paint highlights with a little draw filing on the cog section.

I didn't want to be worrying too much about some joker with a wrench so I mounted it inside my car. It attached to my Coca Cola speaker box........

Keep posting those pics. Very cool to see them installed.

BTW, anyone see one installed at the VW Classic over the weekend? Just curious.

Saw a few VR's, none had them.

Three of them had flipped beams.

None had chopped roofs.

Excellent!

I love what you did with it. Way to make it your own and fit BugSplat.

Great job Paul. Can wait to see what you build to put the other one on.

So I used one and did this.

I altered the beak a little to give it some "hook", shortened the base to fit between the bolts and flattened the base profile to work with a trimless hood.

I still have the second ornament untouched, I guess I better think about building another car just to use it.
hahahaha, i just heard a Samba monkey voice in my head go, "WTH? it already looks cool and that damn VolksRodder had to cut it up and modify it!!

looks great!

I know this isn't as cool as the custom, limited edition set here. But since some on here were looking for an ornament, I figured I'd post this:

Anyone else get their hood ornament mounted to their volksrod or helmet or bike or any thing else? Anyone seen one in the wild at a VW show yet?

Someone had theirs mounted at the "No Show" up in Utah. I saw it in the background of Casey's ride. Thought it might be Doug's ride?

I did a trial fit on Vivian.....maybe I will take a pic this weekend. I really like it. Won't be mounted there until April 2014 though......but will be there for the Phoenix Bugorama in 2014 if I make it in time.
