Default Beam clearance, why am I so low

Today I lowered the front to a nice visual height. I didn't think it was too radical until I looked at the clearance. How does everyone else run static low???

What method did you use to lower it?

It's kind of a math thing. Stock height minus 2-1/2" spindles, minus a couple of inches in sidewall height using 45/50 series tires, minus another couple of inches in the beam. Throw away the spare tire and run with the tank empty and you should be fine.

Did you weld in the adjusters? Do you have anymore up adjustment? They actually sell beams for use with dropped spindles. Adjusters can be installed a thousand ways. And when adjusted all the way up, your still lower than stock. Looks like air ride on that beam. My static low is where it is and thatís it.

The beam already had the adjusters on when I got the car. I tried today to wind up further but the top bolt came out and the adjuster has spun inside the beam. Something not right and dont know what.

Are you supposed to slacken off all 4 bolts when you adjust it?

The bolt that came out and allowed it to spin is supposed to stay in place. So you basically have no spring rate right now. Jack it up. Let the suspension hang and see if you can get the center to rotate enough to get the bolt back in.

I realise it's not practical but it looks cool, be great to see some
pic's of your car out in the open before you sort out the issue.

Nice patina too......

So am I correct in thinking, the long top grub bolts stay tight against the leaves and to adjust, crack off both locking nuts, adjust the bottom bolts to desired height, re tighten the locking nuts.

Just dont understand why when fully adjusted to the top, its given very little lift.

Seeing how a slick project like this one progresses is one of the great things about the VolksRod site. 👏👏
