I think it looks good but the wheels are too Chip Foose-y and too modern for me. I like the tires but would prefer a more old school type wheel.
Personally, I think blackwalls would look better on the truck no matter what kind of wheel you use.

I'm as far from a fan of the huge rim / O-ring rubber as you can get but I LOVE THIS TRUCK. I have an old 34 pickup cab and a bunch of VW parts, wanted to build something like this and then found Walt's website.

Decided there would be NO WAY I could ever build anything half as nice, so the parts are still sitting there.

Here's my input on wheel and tire combo if the truck were mine.

Astro Supremes with a thin whitewall radial, not too wide maybe 15x narrow on the front and on the back 15x8 or so. Would be bitchin with that 60's look.

Again, I love this truck and whatever the owner likes should be on it. I'm not going to tell anyone what they should do or should not do with their hotrod.

Think I'll fire up the Photoshop and throw on those Astros w/ whitewall unless one of yous guys want to do it for me ;)

It looks good, and if it makes it a better car to drive/enjoy then more power to ya!
BTW, have you put any miles on it yet? Did I miss a post on your driving impressions? A superlative effort and a nice spin on the original configuration!

If you like it, roll it. To me it looks like some flash in the pan rapper bought it and tricked out his way, but I guess I'm a lil more old school oriented! If I owneedit, it wouldbe painted flat black and on some military steels though so dont judge me too harshly!

Thanks for all the input guys.

We also like it both ways. It looks great in the wide whites but now that we are done with all the fancy pants indoor shows it's time to drive the hell out of it and have some fun!!

Its amazing how much better a good set of radials are over bias plys and the new ones are easier to replace on a long distant drive. Most tire shops will stock them. They are also a lot safer in grip and braking performance.

Its on its way right now up to Washington and there is a chance to see some rain. We feel a lot better not running a pair of slicks in the back in those kinds of conditions.

For some shows we will bolt the cokers back on, but for driving, this will be the common set up.

We had a blast at Peggy Sue's last weekend!! Everyone really seamed to like the truck and I bet I chatted with over a 100 people over the 4 days. Its fun to listen to all the different reactions.

How's it running? Holding up? Are there bug guts all over the front? Are the GoodGuys still trying to pick up their jocks after seeing the Flat4ord?
