Test fit the engine and trans into the sandrail. Thats the first time that engine has been in a car in almost two years. Also got things painted up and ready to put the rear suspension together.

Swapped the auto trans in my '97 Volvo 850-T5. Once more taking any play money I might have had for my stuff! "Volvo for life" has a whole new meaning for me! Volvo, NEVER AGAIN!

I got my engine fired up for the first time in 4 years. I have never heard it run before. The first day I bought it, the engine can out and is still sitting where I bought it.

I installed a new throttle cable and just found out its to short.

This was actually friday and I actually had nothing to do with it but here is what happened in the morning on the highway I take to and from work every day.

Apparently a tanker truck was going a bit too fast for the curve and slammed into the sign post and gaurd rail. The impact caused the tanker to sepperate from the truck and fall to the street below where it ignited and made one hell of a fire ball.

I believe it happened around 9:30am and traffic was still backed up at 5:20 when I pased through on my way home from work.

Here's a video I found.

I excavated my trike from a three foot deep snowbank, pulled off one of the frozen brake cylinders so I can figure out who on eBay gets my spare money this week. Also ordered the paint for it (Deep Purple Metallic Rustoleum) to cover up all that tacky metal-flake-gold that it came with. If there's any place less pleasant to do brakework than a**-deep in a snowbank, I don't ever want to try it.

I was sick yesterday so I didn't go into work, BUT man did I get a lot of stuff done to the car!!!!!!

It has tags and insurance!!! I'm legal for 10 days until it need inspected.. I need the wipers and the horn to work yet to be legal. The F'n wiper work when it wants too. I just cant get the horn to work and I even bought a new one. The engine started to miss and act up now too. I think the plugs might have foulded and the points burnt. Thats a 10 min. fix, I'm hoping. Got to pick up a seat belt ring from UVT Mike and I'm rolling it this weekend!!!!

Hook up the horn to a power source and ground the other wire. If it is new, it should work. If it does, it's the wiring... no biggie. Congrats on getting it road worthy. Make a video and post it burning some asphalt.

Welded up my steering shaft from the superbeetle yesterday. Welded up dead-on straight as well. No wobble or warpage! I chopped about 13" out of it!
I'll post pics tomorrow.

Went over to a friends house last night to start on a dune buggy. We cut what was left of the old pans and welded in new ones. We decided to do it 'old school' using a torch instead of a sawz-all or grinder. Shit worked pretty nice.

Wes doing some cutting on the drivers side.

New pans welded in.

Went with a couple friends down to Angels Roadhouse in Yucaipa and saw the Chop Tops and Guana Batz play. The Chop Tops kicked ass as always and I will have the pleasure of seein' them again tonight in Palm Springs.

Measured my seat height and how I'll have to remove the seat tracks on the pan. Did the math on the 915 tranny and modified a Jamar shifter to work with it with travel to spare. Sent pics to the wheel widening guys to see if they can add 4" to the width to give me 12" wide rear wheels.
Heading back out to the garage now...
