Well Mike, the 'glass dried, but, I couldn't get the parts apart too well... Even with the Spray Mold Release I sprayed on it before hand... I'm chalking it up as a FAIL on my first real 'glassing project. The tubes I was making came out just OK, but, I had to cut them off the tubes I was using as a "mold" for them.

I'll try again some other time, but, TC said he'd come & bail me out once again! He said he'd make them "Easy Peasy" & not to worry cuz, they'll come out Sweet! I'll just stick to the assembly & disassembly of the Buggy. I'm MUCH better at doing mechanical things, restoring & painting parts... Then 'glass at this point. Maybe I'll get better as time goes on & I do more small projects.

Got a Crusin USA arcade cabinet for 20.00 a week or so ago due to the guy I got it from said it was all broken up mainly the controll panel. so after cleaning the garage yesterday I decided to tear into it as I wanted it for my Speed Racer game. The cabinet is fine little fiberglass here and there, a repaint and good as new! the control panel after I washed off the mile of filth and soda, pealed the 2 layers of decals and started scraping all the latex paint of was interesting.. Heres the part I thought people here would enjoy; the boxed part of the controll panel that supports the steering wheel and shifter had at some point broke free, only a few spot welds on a but joint, all the yanking on the wheel etc..
Some brilliant whatever scratched up the paint in the area and JB welded a piece of angle in the groove? and had some duct tape on the back side, then they had attempted to smooth the edges and fill the gaps with a bondo type filler and silicone then brushed over with a ton of black latex paint I took a heat gun to it and just scraped and peeled it all right out got everything fitted properly and today I'll weld it back together right
Some of the cars that came through the shop used to amaze me with the bastardizing people did, then when I saw it in construction and housing, took me a bit but I realize they are everywhere... of course thats how I get most of my stuff so cheap, someone already fked it up and no one else wanted it

Got my wheels into the shop to be straightened since my wife seems to think my car is an suv and avoiding pot holes isn't necessary. Got a new winter cover for my big boat and did a little more x mas shopping done. We got the tree up and partially decorated when we got a call from a friend that one of my alltime favorite hair band era bands KIXX, was playing at a local bar. The singer Steve Whiteman's band was announced, but what wasn't announced was that Three other original members of. KIxx were gonna be there to join on stage. They ended up playing almost an hour and a half. Steve is hysterical is one of the most underrated front men in rock and roll and is still a fuckin awesome performer! Got to talk to everyone Before and after the show and had a table dead center front all night. What a fucking awesome show and best of all, totally Free night. I've been driving a '10 A4 loaner all week while my wife's car is in the shop so I wasn't drinking and I had an awesome night. I told Kari to me that was better than front row seats at any of her Bon jovi shows!

Time to hit the yard for more leaf raking again and get everything covered up for the winter now that the wind isn't blowing 35 mph like it was all day yesterday.

Nice work Pops!!

Went to see my buddys band (The Prozacs) the other day. They were awesome. There were 3 other bands that played as well. One band (No Intentions), did a great punk version of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire". I was blown away. The guitarist is playing with The Prozacs as well now.

Celebrated my birthday. My son came by and we played some music. Recorded some songs that have been unfinished for awhile. Turned out to be a really good day. I was so depressed lately after spending the holiday alone, so this was a much needed boost for me. Anyways the day was nice, except the turning 52 part, lol. Here is one of the tunes we did, him playing the bass, drum parts, me doing the sax, guitar, and keyboard parts, with some vocal loops added.http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8313873. I called it Lipgloss Funk, hope you enjoy it as much as I did recording it. Peace, Mike

Got our tree up. (In-laws own a tree farm.) put it up and collapsed for the day. Going to weld the cross brace under the rear torsion tubes today.

Scooted down to my friendly neighborhood liquor purvayor, and bought a quart of cheap burbon. Then fired up the heater in my garage, and put a dent in the bottle.

I learned that I put one cylinder in with the arrow pointing the wrong way... so I re-rebuilt that side, but this time I torqued everything down, adjusted the valves, added the engine tins and am waiting till a decent hour to call a couple of people to help guide the engine back in the Bug. Hopefully this and the new carb will get her back so I can return the brother in laws truck. Should run better... ish. I went to 87mm pistons/cylinders and the 041 heads. Going to put the Empi progressive carb on it.

Packed my rear bearings, installed the stub axles, seals, & painted up the bolts that hold the bearing retainer & seal in place, plus some brake parts that I forgot to paint, or I would have had the rear ready to install the tires & have the chassis sitting on all 4's!

SOON it'll be back on ALL 4's!

Then I have to flip the chassis back over to install some reinforcement tubes in the channel of the pan, & some reinforcement for the seats... Then I have to touch-up all the paint... I really should have waited till i was completely finished with the chassis before painting it, so, I wouldn't have to go back & re-paint alot of stuff... If i had known I was building a Buggy in the beginning, I wouldn't have painted the chassis till I KNEW it was ready.

I tore apart the 2.0L bus engine to get the crank and the rods out of it. It was super clean inside. The huge plus is the crank & rods are in great shape and are totally useable!! That was the only think I was waiting for to see what pistons & cylinders to order. Now I can go BIG!!! I can't wait..

Put the Bugs engine in and found the empi carb doesn't fit. Swaped fan shroud with the Ghia and found in the Bug it still needs a few mods. Next time I think I'll go twin carb. or side by side throats.

had to go back to stock oil cooling A) to be on the safe side B) my exhaust would have hit the oil cooler(it was mounted on the underside of the parcel tray) so went back to the doghouse oil cooling and installed my new exhaust. now i can't wait to get it running to hear what it sounds like. I'm guessing i'm not getting spark b/c even w/ starting fluid i'm not even getting a putter. I have power to the points and the coil so when it's not rainy i'll figure it out. here are the pics w/ the new exhaust.

Well TC, with any luck ....69 pan with DBUG41 10" flipper extension, adjustable beam, 63 body shell, 73 IRS trans and a 1600 DP engine . All I need now is time and money. I'll start a thread when all the pieces start going together

Hi prick!

I spent some time yesterday adding 6 incandescent lights in my garage to go along with the 9 fluorescent lights. The fluorescent ones have been struggling in the cold weather we have been having lately.

Nice to have some more light out there....especially this time of the year when it is already dark outside at 5pm.
