Default Metal gas line replacement

Hello, I have a question about replacing a metal gas line. My ride is a 1973 std. bug. P.O. bypassed factory gas line stating that it was plugged(It is). He ran a copper line outside the car under drivers running board, ugh. I would like to run it through tunnel like the factory one but can't figure out how. I've seen youtube videos on running it through the same path as the brake line, but I'd rather not if feasible?

I did it by first removing the rubber grommets from the tunnel where the gas line runs. Then started at the back and pushed a straight line all the way through the tunnel until it came out the front access hole that is used to change the shifter rod. Then bend that end about 4 inches at 90 degrees, tape a piece of string or wire securely to the end then carefully draw the tube backwards until the tip of the bent section is at the front hole in the tunnel, use the taped on string to help get it up through the hole, then install the grommets and cut off the excess line at the back

I just did it on my 52 by removing the whole frame bottom. I think handbrake cable routing changed in 55 or so, so I donít think the front half of the gas line is routed exactly the same as this shot. If you shine a flash light through the tunnel you can probably see how the front is held in. I think the gas line always runs through tabs so you might have to make a long prying tool to open them up enough to pull the old line and pass the new one through exactly like stock.

Note clip towards the back that holds the line to one of the handbrake lines.

This is what the early tabs look like.

Also FYI the tubing is supposed to be 6mm OD and .8mm wall.
